Re: To Give Vlans to APs With CAPsMAN

Do you need all of the traffic forwarded by the CAPsMAN?

Re: RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN optimizing VPN performance?

The RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN doesn't support hardware encryption so you can't really get full speed performance out of it. I would suggest upgrading the device to a unit that does support hardware encryption.

Re: To Give Vlans to APs With CAPsMAN

In your CAPsMAN controller, there is a datapath menu. In your datapath configuration, you can set VLAN mode to "use tag" and specify a VLAN ID. You can also leave that out of the datapath and set the vlan mode and vlan id directly on your SSID configurations. Below is a datapath configurat...

Re: Database/API Documentation

Unfortunately right now The Dude doesn't have an accessible database or API to probe or go through the data with. You can have The Dude notify alarms as well as use the fetch tool to send HTTP Posts to webhooks. That is about it right now. The Dude wasn't being developed for a while and just recentl...

Re: Minecraft Server

The best advice I can give you is to relax :). There are a few main concepts that have to be understood here. Lets say your environment is setup in this way: LAN Subnet: 192.168.1.0/24 ISP Public Address: 1.2.3.4 WAN Port: ether1 Default Minecraft Server Port: 25565 Minecraft Server IP: 192.168.1.2 ...

PPPoE on a Mikrotik 3011

I'm still trying to wrap my head around migrating over to PPPoE from DHCP. At the tower location, I want to have a Mikrotik 3011 with a PPPoE interface on a port. Connected to this port via ethernet would be a RocketM365 which would have subscribers connected from their respective CPEs. I understand...

The Dude: Best practices for efficiency?

What intervals should I be using to scan the most common probes?

Also what kind of footprint does monitoring via RouterOS rather than SNMP generate? I'm not sure if I should scan bandwidth usage using SNMP or if I should just pull it real time from RouterOS?

Re: Move devices

It would be really nice if it was designed so that the devices themselves were their own entities with their own unique identifier. They could do their own polling and monitoring on the device itself. Then you could just drop a reference to that device on the map, remove the reference on the map, or...

Re: Background Image

All of the files located in "/disk1/files/default/*" are read only. You won't be able to FTP a file into that directory. You should just make a new folder like "/disk1/files/images" and place all of your images in there. The Dude will be able to then use the images. You can FTP a...

PPPoE migration from DHCP

I'm looking to change all of my tower sites over to PPPoE from DHCP. At each tower site, there are two different IP subnets: 10.1.x.x/24 My Equipment 10.2.x.x/24 CPE DHCP addresses I've read that it is bad practice to place an IP address on a PPPoE interface/bridge for security reasons. At one tower...

Help with an advanced home setup.

Where I live, I share internet with three other roommates spanning two floors. I have a Mikrotik Routerboard without any sort of built in wireless and I have a Netgear R7000 that I turned into just an access point. This is what I would like to accomplish: Group devices by each owner (roommate). Setu...
