Re: Traffic generator

Yes, that is possible. I've not done it over the public Internet, but don't see why it wouldn't work. I've done it across multiple router hops in our ISP network. Thanks for the answer, but it is not yet clear how this can work. If we consider the example above, then, let's say, the IP addresses ar...

Re: Traffic generator

Set the Dst to be the IP of the generator and the Gateway to be the IP of the remote Mikrotik you are testing to. You can leave the Src blank.
OK thanks.
And how to run a similar test on the Internet:
mikrotik1 <----> gw1 <----> gw2 <----> mikrotik2
?
Is it possible ?

Traffic generator

Question on the use of traffic generator. The manual says that traffic must return to the generator to see the statistics. I want to test the channel "generator - another mikrotik", so the "another mikrotik" should be able to return traffic. Does anyone know how to do this (so that the mikrotik can ...

Re: IPv6 SLAAC, Router Solicitation

If all you want to do is disable to use of SLAAC and IPv6 on specific hosts, would it not be much easier to just disable IPv6 SLAAC at the OS level on the desired hosts? No, it will not be easier: at the moment they are two different operating systems: 1) android-smartphone and 2) macbook with its ...

Re: IPv6 SLAAC, Router Solicitation

I tried to set up the network in such a way as to block the announcements from the mikrotik (inside mikrotik) to the multicast listeners, but in this case SLAAC does not work at all. For the curious ... why would you want to do this in a SLAAC environment anyway? In my case, the goal is to have sev...

Re: IPv6 SLAAC, Router Solicitation

Yes. Solicitation sends by the client to router from client src mac to link local multicast address. After router receives this frame, it will sends advertisement from it's unicast src address to unicast destination mac address of client. After user populate it's nd base, it will "talk" with router...

Re: IPv6 SLAAC, Router Solicitation

It's unicast NDP message from router to client. Sure ? I tried to simulate the situation again: linux-host and mikrotik with RouterOS 6.42.6; On a Linux host, I blocked the reception of the Router Advertisement using a firewall. Linux host periodically sends Router Solicitation. Mikrotik ignores re...

IPv6 SLAAC, Router Solicitation

Hello. Tell me, please, who knows: does radvd in RouterOS not service Router Solicitation requests from hosts on the LAN and not send responses to Unicast addresses? Only sends announcements Router Advertisement to multicast listeners ? I tried to set up the network in such a way as to block the ann...

The RouterBOARD 941-2nD hangs when turned on

Hello everybody. I have a RouterBOARD 941-2nD. With the router from a certain point, problems started (initially everything was OK): 1. The version of RouterOS was current as of August 2016. The router stopped loading after reboot/power cycle AFTER it was changed at least one parameter in the settin...

'queue simple' trouble

Hello all. I have Mikrotik rb750up, ros 6.37.1, license level 4. I try to use " queue simple " to limit traffic speed on interface. In my case, ether2 interface. When I add only queue like " name="xyz" target=ether2 parent=none packet-marks="" priority=8/8 queue=default-small/default-small limit-at=...

RADIUS accounting "Accounting-On/Accounting-Off"

Hello all. I try to use RB750UP (RouterOS 6.34.3) as PPPoE server. I switched on RADIUS accounting. So, when I power on device, then it send accounting request with "Acct-Status-Type = Accounting-On" AVP.
