We are having exactly the same issues here, we have previously been installing and supplying CM9 and WLM54AG's, we recently purchased a batch of 100 RB52's out of which 10 are giving us exactly the same symptoms as you have pointed out, works for a week or so and then signal strength drops by 10-20d...

I have installed about 2 links using 802.11b NLOS, the 1 link is about 1KM through about 50 trees and the other is about 4KM through about 2 trees. 802.11b is the best when you have obstacles as the transmit power on most cards increases when set to 802.11b. I have not managed to get 802.11a working...

2.8.22 "non legacy wireless" & 5Ghz working

After thorough testing I have changed over my entire wireless network from 2.8.18 "wireless-legacy" to 2.8.22 wireless (non legacy) and can vouch that it works without any problems. My network comprises links from 3Km to 25Km 802.11a, 802.11b & 802.11g and have not lost performance on ...

Alignment Mode

Can anyone expand on their experiences using "alignment mode" ? I usually just run a scan from the station side and send a technician up the mast and he basically moves the antenna up, down, left, right until the best signal strength is achieved. Would alignment mode make this easier ? wha...

Hi Uldis

I will change one of my live links over to 2.8.22 non legacy today and test the throughput on 5.8Ghz, if there are no issues then I will upgrade our entire backbone and test the b/g issues.

Will keep in touch.

Have you tried running 5210, 5250, 5290, 5760 and 5800 ? at -70 you should have no problems running turbo mode I have l...

Routerboard hangs if AP set to G and Station set to B

Why does the routerboard hang if for example the AP is setup in 802.11g mode and the Station is setup in 802.11b mode and visa versa ? I have not tested this on the wireless package only wireless-legacy and have noticed that wireless has an option for 802.11b/g mode. I unfortunately cannot run wirel...

Considering the fact that a divider is fairly expensive it would make much more sense for you to just install another antenna. From you comments it seems as though you are going to manually make the changes anyway.

Try running 2.8.18 with wireless-legacy installed. Make sure that you have removed the wireless package first. This has worked for me on my network. See the other posts for a detailed explanation of the procedure to upgrade.

Excuse my ignorance here but I was always under the impression that 5Ghz only worked over very short distances so have not yet tested it, Are there specific frequences to turbo mode or can I use any of the frequencies in the 5.8Ghz band ie 5725-5825.

Thanks for the info.
