Re: WDS increasingly unstable untill reboot needed

Another finding.
It seems to be related to encryption method.
If i turn off encryption completely it immediately connects every time.

EDIT:
Changing WDS mode to "WDS mesh" solved the problem.:)

Re: WDS increasingly unstable untill reboot needed

I just changed "dynamic" to "static" and back to "dynamic" WDS mode on the WDS-master side.
This immediately puts the WDS link into the issue described before (trying to connect but immediately gets disconnected).
A reboot of the master WDS node helps.

WDS increasingly unstable untill reboot needed

I got a WDS link setup between two hAP lite. The problem is, that the link is only "stable" for a view hours, then starts to drop out and finally refuses to connect (permanently tries to but immediately disconnects again). When i reboot the WDS master, the link is up again stable and fine until afte...

You can kick off the devices with bad signal from the ap by the rules if they are so silly that do not want to roam on their own...

Re: Zero handoff - Wifi roaming possible?

Ubiquiti had that, but no longer... define disconnect/reconnect, most apps shouldn't really notice disassociating/reassociating any more than they'd notice some noise in the ether The problem is, that my iPad and my smartwatch both stay connected as long as possible to the old/weak AP before they f...

Zero handoff - Wifi roaming possible?

I would like to join two overlapping APs to form one single WiFi network so that from client perspective there is only one AP. Absolutely important for me is, that the clients NEVER have to disconnect/connect when moving from one AP to the other. Ubiquiti calls that feature "Zero handoff". Is there ...

6.39rc38 crashes using superchannels

Since i updated my Metal 2 on the Station side it crashes when using superchannels mode.
On the AP-side the same firmware does not crash using superchannels.
Can anyone confirm that issue?

(Reverted to an older firmware version and superchannels work normally again)

Re: Wireless connection after 6.39rc38 update of client down

I just checked the station side. The Metal2 is beeping and rebooting over and over. I did a reset of the device so that it was reachable under 192.168.88.1 again. However, when it tried to configure it again it always crashes when using "superchannels" mode or setting a "scan-list". So there is defi...

Wireless connection after 6.39rc38 update of client down

I just updated a PtP setup (2 x Metal 2) with the latest 6.39rc38 firmware. *) First i updatet the local AP and the link was up and running fine. *) Second i updated the remote Client and since then the link is down. The client was set up to scan all frequencies so i tried another frequency on the A...

Traffic monitoring - help needed

Hello, i would like to monitor the traffic (bandwith usage, traffic type...) on my Mikrotik router. As far as i know, i have to enable traffic-flow feature and set up a server running an analysis software. Ntop looks very good, however - if i got it right - ntop/ntopng is not free anymore? So, the q...

Re: Which one should i take - RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN or CRS109-8G-1S-2HnD-IN

I think i'll go with the CRS109-8G-1S-2HnD-IN.
Although i'll use VPN from time to time, i prefere having the 8 gigabit ports over the split solution of the RB2011 with the CPU as bottleneck in between.
Hope that IKEv2 will be available soon ;)

Thanks for your advices!!

Re: Which one should i take - RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN or CRS109-8G-1S-2HnD-IN

I would have wanted "the dude" for 24h monitoring and logging of my PtP link.
However, i don't wanna spend extra money for that feature.
Is there another solution to monitor Mikrotik Devices? (SNMP...)
I would like to run that tool on the mikrotik router that is always on anyway.

Re: PtP setup between two independet LAN - help needed

hi cdiedrich. thank you very much for your detailled help! i got two questions: 1.) is there a special reason why you use a "/30" network mask for the intra-lan segment? is there a performance benefit or just because there are only 2 addresses needed? 2.) if i use an extra router with a WAN port at ...

Re: PtP setup between two independet LAN - help needed

My configuration so far is: -) First Mikrotik in " WISP AP " + router mode -) Second Mikrotik in " PtP bridge " mode The WISP AP side with router mode works ok so the LAN and the wireless link are "isolated". However the other side (PtP bridge mode) has no router functionality and thus no isolation ...

Re: Help selecting Hardware for 2.3-2.4GHz range

Congratulations to your step forward. You can maybe build some passive reflector that would help you to keep the link more stable. Maybe some two big directional antennas connected together by rf coax and cable could be helpful too.
Yeah, i thought of that too - maybe gonna climb a tree some day :D

PtP setup between two independet LAN - help needed

Hi, i am completely new to Mikrotik and need a bit of guidance on how to setup a PtP between two independent LAN using Mikrotik Metal2 SHPn. Re: Help selecting Hardware for 2.3-2.4GHz range

Hi jarda, i got a difficult PtP condition. It has no direct line of sight - instead i am using a mountain as reflector to get around another mountain in between. So, for my planned setup (PtP, 2 x Meta2 SHPn) where would you install the dude server?
In one of the Metal or is it also possible to run it on a Synology NAS?
I'd prefere the NAS.

Re: Help selecting Hardware for 2.3-2.4GHz range

One more question...
Does Mikrotik provide a supervision software, like Ubiquiti does with Aircontrol, that collects device parameters and plots them in diagrams?
I mean a software that runs on a seperate server for just that purpose.
