still dhcp-client is broken when cake queue type is applied in its queue tree interface, status is stuck at searching, strange that fq-codel doesnt have this issue

applying cake in queue tree interface breaks its dhcp client functionality. it just keeps on searching mode and you have to disable it in queue tree temporarily in order to obtain public ip then enable it again for cake qos.

What packet mark do put for the parent queue ? no-mark ? is cake aware of the dscp value from mangle ? Yes, use no-mark for the parent, and remove any mangle rules that apply any mark other than no-mark. And, yes, cake is aware of the dscp rule from mangle. Im using one of your queue tree script with dscp mangling now that cake is possible should i just change the queue type to cake in queue tree. Or is there anything more that should be configured in mangle or queue tree. With cake you don't need the 8 leaf queues anymore for the different priorities...

You might want to check this openwrt cake script with dscp mangling to see if it can be ported to mikrotik Are you asking for help with this? or trying to help me? If the latter, this is not helpful for my specific use case. If the former, I can explain how you could probably adapt this for RouterO...

I can confirm hotspot login page over ssl is working but is broken on its initial loading, you have refresh your browser a few times to view the working login page. And also adding simple queues targeting hotspot interface wont load the login page

Queue trees can be either interface-attached (in which case they affect only egress traffic) or "global" attached, in which case they can affect ingress or egress traffic depending on how the packets are marked. Packets can have a mark applied using either firewall mangle rules or bridge ...

I've got Cake enabled on +4 dozen routers with 7.1b5, with a Queue tree, and no kernel crashes yet.

I haven't bothered with the simple queues, as it did cause kernel panics. Not sure if it's fixed yet.

Its quite useful to prioritize some connections like voip, games, and so on...

On iptables we can easily use:
