Re: v7.14.1 [stable] is released!

Can someone confirm issues with new SMB service? I tried to use hAP ac2 as SMB server, but it crashes when I'm transferring larger file (~8GB) to SSD drive connected to USB port. I have submitted ticket (SUP-146120). New version (7.14.1) is released but there is no information in changelog about fix...

Doesn't matter how passwords are generated. For ISP routers it is the biggest BS ever. Imagine that you have to configure 20+ new routers for clients or technician connects new router to the network or resets configuration of existing router and admin has to configure it via MAC telnet form the neig...

RB951G-2HnD not working. Tried to upgrade from 6.46.6 by uploading .npk but it crashes entirely (no communication through LAN, no wi-fi). Fortunately after power reset it has switched to a second partition with 6.46.6, so no netinstall needed.

*) wireless - improved 802.11ac stability for all ARM devices with wireless; For me no improvement at all. Still on mobile devices connected to cAP ac or hAP ac2 at 5 GHz download during speedtest peaks to more than 100 Mbit/s, then rapidly slows down. Speedtest in average shows less than 60 Mbit/s...

"improved 802.11ac stability for all ARM devices with wireless" I have cAP ac. New version improves upload on my Huawei Mate 20 Lite (from ~150 Mbit/s to ~190 Mbit/s), but download speed is lower. On 6.45.2 download is 50 Mbit/s average, on 6.44.5 it is higher than 100 Mbit/s. cAP is at th...

Re: Advisory: Vulnerability exploiting the Winbox port

Well, this is really embarrassing, my enthusiasm with MikroTik is fading due to this few recent vulnerabilities and attacks. Use Ubiquiti instead  Then you will have huge security problems and vulnerabilities. In last two years they had very serious problems with attacks (with one our network ...

What you can do if the AP doesn't want to go above 54Mbps Set the band to only-n and de select all the basic/supported a/g rates. Seriously? Tried that and wrote about it in a post above yours: AP cannot achieve TX rate higher than 54 Mbit with some devices even if you switch it into 802.11n mode o...

Re: big mistake [SOLVED]

Mikrotik is not what you call consumer grade, don't assume similar level of knowledge will suffice. I administrate network with 1k users, so it is not a matter of knowledge level. AP cannot achieve TX rate higher than 54 Mbit with some devices even if you switch it into 802.11n mode only and set Tx...

That's why you should use unifi when you are building home/office/hotel network: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=102908 If good wireless and its compatibility with all devices is not a priority for Mikrotik, then what is a priority and why we need products such as wAP or cAP?

Re: big mistake [SOLVED]

The only mistake you could do is to badly design your network or misconfigure your devices. Maybe you did both errors? Mikrotik has some issues with wireless when connecting with non-mikrotik devices (especially phones). Here you can find more information about it: https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewto...

Re: Dramatically low speed of 802.11n AP mode on R52Hn

My conclusion is that all issues of WiFi on Mikrotik devices are totaly sowftware problem. They are. Mikrotik is aware of it and they are doing nothing with this. Wireless is very weak point in Mikroitk. They worked for ages to obtain good throughput in 802.11n and now it works ok, but only for NV2...

What CPU load do you have on NetMetals and 3011 during Btest? What happens with TCP results if you change channel width to 40 MHz? Are you testing it with one TCP session or more?

This is how Mikrotik works with some devices. Normis confirmed it: https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=102908 Probably they will not fix it soon (it is low priority). You shouldn't buy Mikrotik as AP for non-Mikrotik devices. Actually I don't understand why devices such as wAP or cAP exists a...

There is a "backdoor" (actually well known feature not a backdoor). Use superchannel as frequency mode and make sure that your radio is set to the channel allowed in your country.

Will Mikrotik force use of DFS in such situations?
