Bridging question

I'm trying to track down an odd issue, and wanted to see if anyone had some ideas. I'm bridging a network using EOIP for a client that requires their local office server in my datacenter, but on the same network as their office. OK no big deal, however they are running VOIP and for some reason the w...

Re: RB616

I am secretly hoping that '1' stands for a SFP/miniGBIC port upgrade for the RB600... Goodbye lightning (of sorts)

Me too, I could really use at least one SFP slot for some fiber installs.

Re: Vacuum near PoE cable causes RBCR 50ft away to crash

Static had me wondering also, but the board is grounded up on the roof so who knows. I figure STP cable will fix the issue, but it was still a random thing to run into. Something to keep in mind on customer install locations.

Re: SOLVED Solar Power Solution for RB433

That pager reboot system is pretty cool, how is it setup? Do you just buy it and activate it with any pager carrier? Does it have a special code or something to prevent random people from paging it by mis-dialing a number?

Vacuum near PoE cable causes RBCR 50ft away to crash

Here's an interesting one... I have a Crossroads connected to one of my offices, and as it's a temporary network setup we have a few network cables laying on the floor. I was just vacuuming up near the equipment while one of the computers was streaming a TV show, and the stream died when I was near ...

Re: mikrotik interface bridging

I used to catch suspected spammers in the data center by taking a RB532 and bridging two ports for the server to pass traffic through, then feeding the output to a laptop running wireshark on the third port. Grab a little proof from the TCP stream then terminate the customer for TOS violation.

Re: 2009 and Mikrotik

Please oh please give me a RB with SFP ports so I can mix and match my interfaces for the requirements. 4 Ethernet Ports - one fixed PoE for power, and three SFP slots for whatever, copper, fiber, etc. Give it a mid-range CPU so it will still run over PoE Add one, maybe even two mini-pci slots for s...

I'll be happy if we ever see a model with SFP ports.

Feature Request

Can we get a loopback interface option? I'd like to have an option to create at least one loopback that I can assign an IP to. Now I know there are other ways to create the same result, but it seems more logical to just have a loopback interface option. On my Cisco gear we connect to them via the lo...

Re: Feature Request: Better Release Practises!

I've been on MT gear for a few years now, and although it's a great product I have refrained from using it for anything more critical than a minor distribution segment. I'm also using it for less wireless than most other people here, usually my MT gear is deployed in my data centers to achieve speci...

Re: ros 3.15 is out

Heads up...I upgraded a 532 which is just running a hotspot service and no other special settings and it's randomly hanging and being rebooted by the watchdog. Went from 3.14 to 3.15, no problems with 3.14.

I'd really like to see support for native vlans, so I can properly connect to my Cisco gear via trunks.

Address list feature request

I use dynamic address lists to detect hack attempts and record the IP's, my problem is whenever the router is rebooted I lose all the entries. I'd like to have an option to write the list to disk every hour or maybe even daily.

but there is 2 CPUs isn't there? i guess that's it, if some other os shows you more then this is their problem.
A dual Xeon with hyperthreading running an SMP kernel will show 4 CPUs.

Anyone using mikrotik with more than 50.000 pps ? I wonder what is the processor.. mine is double xeon 3 Ghz only can get 25 mbit/s We did a test at our data center of a DOS attack against a target behind a P4 3.0 running RouterOS 2.9.35 and pushed 99,000 pps at ~51Mbits through it with a CPU load ...

As requested here http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=11748 the ability to import IP blacklists into a firewall rule would help fight spam and general malicious traffic.

Store logs on compact flash?

I searched around and didn't see this feature anywhere, it would be nice for those of use who push a large amount of traffic through the routers with extensive firewalls to be able to log large amounts of data to a second compact flash card. This mainly pertains to the 532 boards, but it would also ...

Feature request (network blacklists)

I'd like to see the ability to import network blacklists such as http://www.spamhaus.org/drop/drop.lasso and http://feeds.dshield.org/block.txt My main concern is the ability to use firewall rules to block spam email at router level based on the blacklists above, and also to block networks that have...
