Re: CAPsMan and dividing 2.4 and 5 Ghz channels across multiple AP's

Thanks for the reply, interesting feedback. I was not aware that it works like that.

How can I hard-code the channels for each AP? Is this done through CAPsMan? If so, how? Or does this needs to be done on each AP? But how can I configure the AP while it is being controlled by CAPsMan?

CAPsMan and dividing 2.4 and 5 Ghz channels across multiple AP's

I've configured CAPsMan to control multiple AP's. I've configured that for 2.4Ghz, channel 1, 6 and 11 can be used. And something similar for the 5Ghz (with their own channel numbers of course). When checking the WIFI area, I still see that the AP's using the same channel number 36 on the 5Ghz WIFI....

The agent is setup on The Dude server for each device. What test causes the status to be set to Up?: the service status being monitored on each device. For example ping. Finally found the solution. :-) There was an incorrect address list assigned to the WIFI interface on the AP. That caused the fact that I could make a WIFI connection but I didn't get an IP address. Pinging the device from which I cannot do the ping from the AP is working. In other words, the reserve IP ping is working.

Re: wAP AC (General questions and experience)

How many wAPs have you deployed? What's the distance between them and the boats? hundreds of meters is not suitable for wAPs, nor is it Omni antennas either. Only 1 wAP at the moment for testing purposes. This one is positioned on the jetty in the harbour. I've three other mounting points on the je...

Re: wAP AC (General questions and experience)

Thanks for your feedback, that is really appreciated. The area I need to cover is a harbour of about 120 x 260 meters. In the harbour their are a lot of boats (obviously) with masts (sailboats) as wel as metal boats. The requirement is that there is good WIFI reception inside the boat. Cabling is no...

Re: wAP AC (General questions and experience)

Is anybody aware of a different mounting solution for the wAP. My understanding is that the wAP is a broadcasting in a circle. If the wAP is mounted on a iron pipe (this is the only way in my situation to mount an AP on the jetties in our harbour) it (can) influence the broadcasting. If I can mount ...

Re: RB411UAHR 0.0.0.0 IP address

To my understanding a Mikrotik device after reset has 192.168.88.1 IP address. Make sure your WinBox machine as an IP address in the same range, 192.168.88.x. When you change the the IP address of you WinBox machine give it a chance to have the new address activated on your machine. Then try to conn...

Re: mAP Lite in Repeater mode

Anybody an idea why my Last IP is flipping all the time? And is this the reason why I cannot ping my main WIFI AP and thus not browse the Internet?

Re: mAP Lite in Repeater mode

Finally made some progress on this subject. I found the "Setup Repeater" button in the Wireless Interface configuration. With this button I was able to setup a repeater. The mAP Lite is connecting to my WIFI AP, I'm getting an IP address. I can connect with my laptop to the mAP Lite. But I...

Re: mAP Lite in Repeater mode

That is indeed what I tried to do. But for some reason I cannot get the connection to the mAP via the cable. Will give it another try and communicate the results.

Many time connecting Winbox to the mAP via the MAC address doesn't work, I really don't understand why.

mAP Lite in Repeater mode

This is driving me crazy!! I need some help. I want to configure a mAP Lite in repeater mode so that I can use the device as a WIFI extender. Is there a good guideline available that I can follow to do the configuration? I tried already many different things. For example: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wi...

Re: Best setup for multiple SXT2 Wifi's?

Looks like my problem is solved. The HP port on which the Mikrotik was connected was set in Trunc mode (if I'm correct), in other words it was not configured correctly and that is why the Mikrotik didn't got an IP address from my management network. It is all sorted out now and it is working perfect...

Re: Best setup for multiple SXT2 Wifi's?

What speed will you serve to the customers (your uplink total bandwidth)? Unfortunately my uplink bandwidth is not so high, we are to far away from the telecom providers infrastructure so there is not much bandwidth. 2 ADSL lines 8Mb down, 1,5 MB up. Will you provide public ip addresses to the cust...

Re: Best setup for multiple SXT2 Wifi's?

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the SXT 2's all have level 4 license. I've learned something again :-)

What about the DCHP server? Do I have one central DHCP server or have each SXT its own DHCP server? And what is the effect when clients are moving from different SXT's, am I not running out of IP's?

Best setup for multiple SXT2 Wifi's?

For a big harbour place a good WIFI reception is required. For a test I've 3 SXT2 WIFI devices. I'm building a test environment to get familiar with Mikrotik as well as to test stability etc. Once these 3 SXT2's prove they can do the job and we have a stable WIFI signal in the harbour I want to buy ...

Re: Most simple / cheapest HW for the Dude

Again thanks for your feedback. Of course I went through that manual. I will not ask questions if they are explained in the manual. What I'm missing is some explanation on how/where to install that CHR solution. The name suggests it is a Cloud Based solution, this brings up a whole lot of other ques...

Re: Most simple / cheapest HW for the Dude

Thanks for your feedback, I'm relatively new to the entire Mikrotik product line. Same for the CHR solution. I understand I can run this for free if I accept the 1mbit per interface limitation. But where do I install this CHR solution? Really in the cloud? Or on a VM located in my own network? And i...

Re: Most simple / cheapest HW for the Dude

Thanks for your feedback. Does the Windows version still do the job and can monitor the different newest Mikortik devices? I was not able to find the Windows version of the Dude on the Mikrotek web-site. So do you recommend to download it from another site? For example from: http://downloads.tomsgui...

Most simple / cheapest HW for the Dude

Hi All, Which Mikrotik HW model is the best, cheapest to run The Dude server package? I want to add such a device so that I can connect to it from a Windows machine in the network and monitor the status of all the Mikrotik devices (only 4 for now but will add more in the near future) in my network. ...
