Right,

I implemented it on a remote site over the weekend and it works like a charm! I am extremely grateful for the help Sob.

Re: MAC alias for WAN Eth1

Thank you Sob, the input (pun fully intended) was most helpful. In mangle I changed input to prerouting as you suggested, added the marks to responses from the LAN. I did have a difference in the DHCP clients, ether1 still had the client that was, I think, added by the Quickset when I used it previo...

Re: MAC alias for WAN Eth1

Thanks Sob, I am having difficulty with the mangle and marking packets. I appreciate that I need to set up multi-WAN. For this test I am using "only" 4 IPs. I thought this would be a good guide, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67Dna_ffCvc, it certainly made sense as I watched it. The slides are avai...

Re: MAC alias for WAN Eth1

I've returned to this after a hiatus and am having difficulty with the basics. Most of the solutions I've seen involve vrrp: Multi DHCP clients on same WAN port https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=60453 Virtual or pseudo ethernet interfaces possible? https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f...

MAC alias for WAN Eth1

Hi all, I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere, I searched for it but without luck. I am looking at changing ISPs and the new ISP has a reservation system that requires a unique MAC for each assigned IP. Currently I have 5 static IPs all aliased to Eth1 and I do port forwarding on IP and po...

Re: Confused about L2TP and IPSec VPNs

And it works!!! Thank you both for the hard work you put into helping me nail this. Sob, you were right, the tunnel was fine, it was a case of PEBKAC. My local set up was a mess, I had made assumptions that were wrong. I cleaned up things locally and now I have a screaming fast permanent tunnel betw...

Re: Confused about L2TP and IPSec VPNs

Thanks again for all the excellent input - I am learning a lot here... I still can't get a ping from hosts on each side. Which settings should I post at this point? ie - what do you need to see? /ip firewall raw still has the following entries: [...@trk-mtk-04] > /ip firewall raw print Flags: X - di...

Re: Confused about L2TP and IPSec VPNs

Thanks again both of you, this has been a source of frustration for me for too long and I can't over state how pleased I am to be getting your help. If you look around "/ip ipsec", does it look like it's working? Is there anything in "/ip ipsec remote-peers"? Any SAs in "/ip ipsec installed-sa"? If ...

Re: Confused about L2TP and IPSec VPNs

Thanks Sob, for now I want to allow all traffic between these networks. Once I have it working I may look into some filtering. So now I have Office 1 - LAN 192.168.0.0/24 Filter [...@trk-mtk-04] > ip firewall filter print Flags: X - disabled, I - invalid, D - dynamic 0 D ;;; special dummy rule to sh...

Re: Confused about L2TP and IPSec VPNs

Thanks guys, I have the IPSec tunnel established using the default proposal (I've made it this far before....) and added what I think are the right firewall rules but still no ping across the WAN. Confused about L2TP and IPSec VPNs

Hi all, the more I read about site to site VPN tunnels the more confused I get. It seemed to me when first reading about VPNs that I just wanted to set up L2TP/IPSec but the more I read the less I understand. Some tutorials say IPSec is all that is needed to create a tunnel, others L2TP only and mor...

Re: From one subnet to other but [SOLVED]

This is precisely my requirement, only - a) users who must have only RDP access to their workstation but not the LAN directly, if I understand things correctly once logged into their workstation they will still have the access that they have when sitting at their desk. In my case the VPNs are SSTP a...

Re: Multi-site IPSec VPN - Confusion

I am also keen to see this presentation.

I am trying to decide what protocols and set up is best for a site to site VPN using RB 3011 Ui AS-RM units at each end.

The more I read about VPNs the more I realize I do not know.

Re: VPN Clients Using the Public IP of Mikrotik VPN Server to browser internet

How did you resolve it?

Was it in the network settings "Use default gateway on remote network" found in the client's Advanced TCI/IP settings for the connection?

I did find this in the logs: http://www.tracker-software.com/files/forumImages/Mktk-log.png So I removed the packages and left just the current resulting in this: http://www.tracker-software.com/files/forumImages/Mktk-log-2.png So that has me removing it and adding again only dude-6.35.4.npk (not AR...

Dude setup on RB 3011

I sincerely apologise if this is answered already somewhere and I missed it, but I am having a ridiculously difficult time doing what the documentation says should be pretty straight forward. I must be missing something embarrassingly simple... This page https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:The_Dud...

Re: Port forwarding not working.

I resolved the problem! One of the comments on another thread where someone pointed out the importance of the target VM having the right gateway. I had multiple "default' gateways because the host has guests on different networks. The short story, once I correctly configured the guests gateway to po...

Re: Port forwarding not working.

Hi this is my first attempt at using a Miktotik router. I have an RB 3011 Ui AS-RM. I wish, ultimately to use this to fail over my multiple ISPs for the web services I host.. For now I am just setting up a single WAN and do port forwarding to a host in a DMZ. Later, I will expand the usage as I lean...
