Re: The Dude, work continues: v6.35rc test builds.

I am trying on latest stable and release candidate versions of CHR, running on VirtualBox and Amazon AWS, and I can not get an import-db or export-db to work at all. I have a 220MB backup from Dude 4b3 I am trying to import-db into to a CHR, but it just processes with no progress or errors and retur...

Re: Cloud Hosted Router

I have managed to expand the partition myself on AWS and give the instance I launched more space, it would be nice though if the official AMI actually used the 1GB of space it was built with originally. I am sure some people out there might have large Dude backups that they would want to import/expo...

Re: Cloud Hosted Router

sorry about that. Snapshots are made public now for US N.Arizona and EU Irelan clusters. I just noticed that no matter what you set the disk size to on AWS EC2 when launching the official AMI(or copied), it seems to be only around 100MB... btw, updated AMI image to the 6.34 new AMI IDs are as follows for the regions eu-west1 ami-7d77c10e , on us-east1 ami-07ddf26d You can copy the AMI to the other region where you reside. I get the following when trying to copy the us-east1 AMI: "You do not have permission to access the storage ...

Re: Cloud Hosted Router

for amazon cloud - you have to update to 6.34rc39 or newer. Here is the new AMI IDs (~1GB of storage): AMI ID us-west1 ami-8fba10fc (on us-east1 ami-5081a53a ) p.s. if there is important update we will create new AMI image so it is easier to launch as generic CHR as it is possible. I could only fin...

Re: RouterOS v3.17, v4.0beta1, The Dude v3 released

MetaRouter is an awesome idea extended from the xen option of creating RouterOS VM's instantly, but seems a little limited in resources by only supporting the RB400 series. Any plans on supporting the RB600 or RB1000 that would have more memory and storage available to use the solution in say a Data...

Re: RouterOS v3.17, v4.0beta1, The Dude v3 released

@changeip, agreed! my torrent downloads are both at 99.61% and 94.92%, and the forum has been very sluggish if not completely unreachable. could barely post this reply. MetaROUTERs? Anyone have some details on that one, don't see any mention of it in the Wiki or Forums, Google pops up a couple resul...

Re: virtualization

@gmsmstr, first thought that came to my mind in dealing with multiple mikrotik instances and customers was: VLAN baby, VLAN! I can see us throwing one of our spare Rackable C2004's at this and adding a dual/quad gige into it as well, lots of horse power.

Re: virtualization

@ alex_rhys-hurn, i think i missed the part where it is actually a virtualization product that will allow you to install other operating systems, i think it should just virtualize mikrotik instances only. at least that is my perception what the xen package should accomplish for mikrotik, no reason t...

Re: virtualization

i for one can not wait to try this, it has potentially so many applications, especially in a DC environment. i can foresee a licensing model similar to user-manager, where you have have up to 5-10 instances on Level 3-5, and then unlimited on Level6.

keep up the good work guys!
