Re: Capsman ? WDS ? Mesh ?

had same issues.

seamless roaming not possible in a professional way with mikrotik. capsman wont help. go with professional aps, such as aruba, or cisco.

in my experience mikrotik roaming is comparable to if you would just use two tp-link aps with the same ssid.

Re: Cap AC, Hap AC2 or UniFi?

for roaming just go with ubiquity. roaming as 802.11 k/r/v not supported in capsman. Roaming similar as you would just connect 2 routers with similar ssid from diverent vendors to the same layer 2 network, as far as I testet caspman with my two mikrotiks. ah, and genius here always tell that roaming...

correct, but does not deny that roaming support according to 802.11 k / r / v is not supportet at the moment.

Re: hAP ac + wAP ac (as Wi-Fi coverage improvement).

That might be. For me roaming is all services work flawless when moving around and connect from one access point to another. With CAPsMAN forward option enable that is the case. Without CAPsMAN forward enabled I cannot control my multimedia devices instantly. You can? if your sonos etc are connecte...

Re: hAP ac + wAP ac (as Wi-Fi coverage improvement).

Caps man isn’t overkill at all for 2 AP’s, it’s the right way to do it. It actually makes roaming work correctly.
For me it does not. I have no difference in roaming behavior if I do it with capsman oder with two standalone mikrotiks using the same ssid, different channel etc.

Re: VLAN not working with Switch Chip [SOLVED]

There is a bridge configuration AND a switch configuration, and they are conflicting. Yeah, I am a bit confused to this. I am working since saturday on that, but I do not really know what is the correct approach. My goal is -to have the Ports for Device 1-3 as access ports to VLAN 140 (untagged) -t...

Re: RB962UiGS-5HacT2HnT (hAP ac) + UAP-AC-LR: PoE??? [SOLVED]

Thank for your answers.. I am just diving deeper into those band steeering and roaming issues...And also found a Cisco AP that could be interesting for me. Could that also be connected? May I ask, would a Cisco AP (e.g. the 1832) be able to connect? In its datasheet they say 802.3af/802.3at or Enhan...

Re: Max Station Count, NStream, and better uptimes

Does anybody know how the Client are rejected if Max Sation Count is reached?
Maybe a response to the authentication attempt with Status Code 17? AP Busy / Association denied because AP unable to handle additional associated stations

Is that how it works?

RB962UiGS-5HacT2HnT (hAP ac) + UAP-AC-LR: PoE??? [SOLVED]

Dears, I have a question with a home use installation: At the moment I have two hAP ac running wifi pretty stable, but band steering gets important to me and this does not work on mikrotik. I want to test two of the Unifi APs (UAP-AC-LR). Those are can be powered via 802.3af/A PoE & 24V PoE. Now...

setup the hotspot again. i once had the same, if you create a new hotspot file are generated again.
try to enable / disable hotspot first, maybe that also helps

Re: Info before HAP AC purchase

As far as I know no k /r /v. Capsman is interesting, but no real support for client roaming. As far as i know there is no advantage in terms of roaming compared to 2 standalone access points. Maybe same ARP if using capsman.. You can kick off clients depending on snr. In my opinion if you want roami...

Re: Two hAP ac connected to German Telekom router: Guest WiFi

You could have one hAP ac, route, nat, firewall, DHCP on the guest vap, and the other one just have a vap. Two vaps would then be connected to(via) their own VLAN on the managed switch, either by wireless vaps having a VLAN id, or by having them live on a same bridge as a VLAN interface. If this is...

Re: Two hAP ac connected to German Telekom router: Guest WiFi

However, I suspect your speedport cannot do this, if it is a standard home gateway device. Those generally only allow you to have one internal interface and one external, and would not allow VLAN trunking. You're right, that speedport doesn't support this. My switch does support VLAN, but I suppose...
