Re: Failed to request a trial license

CHR is not hosted in Google, but in Latvia. You need to be able to resolve licence.mikrotik.com from your Router (try to ping this domain) Yeah, I have figured out the issue. Because I disabled all UDP traffics on IP firewall. After I disabled the 'drop udp' package rule from firewall, license rene...

Failed to request a trial license

I'm trying to request a trial license from a CHR VM, but I always got error "could not resolve dns name". Is the CHR license service hosted on google? It's a known issue that google is walled from China. Can anybody tell me FQDN of the license server? Maybe I can add a static DNS entry in ...

Failed to register a Mikrotic account

I want to apply a 60-days trial license of CHR, the first thing to do seems to be register an account of Mikrotic. In the Register form, I have filed everything. Immediate above the "register" button, there is a label "Prove you are a human", but there is nothing right to the lab...

I installed a free version of CHR, but I don't see IPv6 enabled on it. In WinBox, I don't see "IPv6" memu. But on a ROS, there is "IPv6" menu.

Re: VRRP on CHR doesn't work?

OK, I figured out the problem. The CHR doesn't support IPv6, so I have to use IPv4 for VRRP and set fake ip address on VRRP.

VRRP on CHR doesn't work?

Due to high cpu usage problem, I'm switch to CHR. Before that, I installed ROS 6.38.1 in a VM of VMware Workstation, and VRRP worked well. And I change to use CHR 6.38.1 and also install VM on same VMware Workstation. Basically the ROS VM and CHR VM are same, but on CHR, VRRP cannot be ready. What's...

Re: High cpu usage

it shouldnt be. Can routerOS directly access the NIC or is there some virtual NIC in between?
ROS is installed in a VMware Workstation virtual machine. So there is virtual NIC on VM, ROS should access virtual NIC. As I mentioned, I tried E1000E and E1000 for virtual NIC type.

Re: High cpu usage

certain NICs have been known to cause higher CPU usage with virtualisation and routing. There are many different onboard NIC brands as well. Also if the virtualisation uses its own virtual NIC that can add to the overhead as well. I just checked that the physical NIC is Intel (R) 82576 Gigabit Dual...

Re: High cpu usage

What type of virtual nic are you using?
I tried E1000 and E1000E for virtual nic type. I haven't figured out how to install vmtools on ROS, thus have no way to try with vmxnet3.

High cpu usage

I installed ROS box on VMware Workstation. The ROS box is configured with 1 vCPU (2 cores), 512MB memory. But its cpu usage is high, >40%, even there is not much traffics. The profiled cpu, and see one 'ethernet' uses >40% CPU usage, and the other 'ethernet' uses 5%. Is there any way to optimize cpu...

How to configure this IP firewall rule?

I want to disable all incoming UDP packet, unless source port is 1812 or 1813, or dest port is 3799. I tried to use two rules: /ip firewall filter chain=input action=drop protocol=udp src-port=!1812,1813 /ip firewall filter chain=input action=accept protocol=udp dst-port=3799 But this doesn't seem t...

Is it possible to customize VRRP mac address?

According to the doc: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Interface/VRRP, VRRP mac address is auto assigned. But I have multiple RouterOS VMs, VRRP mac addresses on them are conflict, thus I wonder to way to customize VRRP mac address.

How Radius offers same info as PPP secret to PPTP server?

I have setup a PPTP server, and defined a set of PPP secrets. As PPTP client account should be centrizely managed, I'm thinking to use Radius for AAA. What I'm unclear is, a PPP sceret defines local/remote addresses, how Radius offers such information to PPTP server? Is ther any documentation or sam...

Multiple PPPoE clients over a single NIC

I'm using ROS 5.24. Now I want to create multiple PPPoE clients over a single NIC. But since PPPoE server side checkes MAC address of client, creating multiple PPPoE clients over a single interfaces just results that no PPPoE could connect. Thus I need to create multiple virtual interface over the N...

How to dynamically bind PPTP connection's uplink?

What I'm trying to archive is: 1. The ros box has multiple PPPoE uplink interfaces, say one of the uplink interface hold IP 10.9.9.5. Every uplink is isolated from other uplinks. 2. The ros box is also a PPTP server, PPTP server IP is 10.8.8.4, PPTP connection IP at side server is 192.168.111.5 3. A...
