Re: Cracked cover on RouterBOARD DISC Lite5

That is actually excellent manufacturing! Not every company can achieve such precise timing.
Seems to me like this issue is noticeable when all four seasons of the year have passed.
You're right, great engineering, precise warranty calculation.

Re: Winbox vulnerability: please upgrade

Hopefully, by using such zero day, somebody hacks, enters into MikroTik HQ, steals, borrows, forks, acquires by using magnets, liberates the source code and makes GNU/RouterOS, so no such zero day happens ever again. :D

Check the power supply, check the board electrolytic capacitors.
It is also possible that the board had been hit with an electrical surge via the ethernet ports and some components are burned - for example via the dead port, or something...

What i mean is allow only one mac on that port.

Re: Are routerboard products having silent hardware revisions?

Actually MikroTik boards are so good, they have to put one or two electrolytic capacitors over night, to make them a bit crappy so they don't just obliterate the competitors.
It's out of pity.

wAP and hAP lite wifi [SOLVED]

Does wAP and hAP lite have the same wifi?
According to the specification, they both have the same tx power and rx sensitivity.
I think perhaps hAP on board trace antenna is like 1db and wAP 2-3db metal pieces.

Am i somewhat correct or just full of shit plain wrong?

Re: Removing water residue

I think the dirty ionized water did what it had to do, shorted out something plus the board meanwhile corroded in some parts too and it's done for. You could fix it, replace the damaged components and clean it with ultrasound but it's probably more cost effective to buy a new one. This method is onl...

Re: Feature request - static content web server

RouterOS, as name implies, is a router - it should not serve webpages. The only possibility is hotspot captive portal (and I think it should stay that way). Making webserver is hard (and I say that as an author of one), incorporating existing one is not in MT style and will mean they need to track ...

Why not grab a Raspberry and put Pi-Hole ( https://pi-hole.net/ on it. Request: RouterOS as independant DNS resolver

Currently the RouterOS DNS server works only as DNS forwarder. It relies on other DNS server to do the recursion.
I would like for RouterOS to have a DNS resolver option, so it would do DNS recursion on it's own, independently - if needed.

Re: DNS static records limit?

I would like to know the answer of this question too. Furthermore, i would like to know the limits for static A entries and regex DNS entries. One dirty hack workaround is to daisy chain Mikrotik DNS forwarders, but it adds DNS query response latency. For example: DNS resolver->mikrotik1 DNS forward...

Like I said, we have not made products with these capacitors since many years, if you have such device, it is covered by warranty.
Liquid electrolyte capacitors are "the cancer that is killing".
I feel pity whenever i see a nice board butchered for a few cents more gain.

Under good enough light conditions visually inspect the ethernet connector and see if the pins are good.
Check the link negotiation settings.
Powercycle the board and check again.
