We have a customer who is complaining constantly about their WiFi We've tried everything - including installing a second MT router and setting up CAPsMAN Here's an extract from the log The signal is strong - so that's not it (and CAPsMAN is handing off correctly between the two AP's when the signal ...
We operate a network with ~150 customers connected directly to fibre using Mikrotik HAP AC routers each with 1Gbps SFP modules. Although there were some initial challenges with WiFi performance these were mostly stable / resolved until we started to upgrade the firmware on some of the routers,. or r...
can't wait to get rid of the Netgear, Cisco switches :D We have a stack of Netgear switches - each with 24 SFP ports. 4 switches so 96 ports but this continues to grow Netgear provide a stacking kit so you can manage the stack as a single device but the same is possible using any of the ports on th...
We've used a number of options to improve coverage in large buildings. 1. Power line - it's OK as a starting point but performance is variable and can get expensive quickly if you go for faster speeds and multiple nodes 2. Mesh WiFi - works well. Several vendors available - TP-Link DECO M5 set of 3 ...
@Bivvy: when datapath is configured to use capsman's bridge, this usually becomes a srrious bottleneck. If you don't have a good reason not to, set datapath to local-firwarding=yes ... and the rest of appropriate settings. Thanks @mkx I'll turn on local-forwarding. Any other tweaks I should consider?
Ok, so I was wrong and it was unfair to say "MIMO doesn't work", etc, etc... MIMO works! I've made couple of IRL tests (not iperf) - so far, even 3x3:3 makes sense. And note that AC68 is not in the best position - bandwith rate is around 877-1300mbps, jumping around due to close distance ...
We are experiencing the same problem. We operate a network with ~150 customers directly on full fibre connections. For the client CPE we are using Mikrotik HAP AC. Speed tests with a computer directly connected to the HAP AC give results between 250 and 350Mbps download and >400Mbps upload depending...
Hi guys - your posts have been a great help getting to grips with CAPS. One question though - why the use of the slave channels? Isn't it simpler to set define the allowed frequencies in /caps-man configuration eg /caps-man configuration add channel=2g channel.frequency=2412,2437,2462 comment=\ &quo...
I guess I will monitor more closely and get some WireShark captures. What I find most odd about this is the fact that I never saw this at all until a month or two ago. Now, I see it multiple times a day and it's all with communication between my Mikrotik AP and Mikrotik CPE. Hi Arcee Did you ever s...
Hi I'm trying to create a new skin which allows limited access for our customers so they can: Make basic changes to the WiFi SSID's and password etc Activate WPS (we are using HAP AC's which don't have a WPS button) Change the local IP address and DHCP settings Have access to the Kid Control feature...
Agree - the need to manually UnAck is a significant problem. Either need
- Ack to be cleared automatically when service comes back up again or
- A way to tell which devices are still Ack'd.
Any ideas why an "unknown" interface has suddenly appeared in the Interface List on (some of) our client routers? https://drive.google.com/open?id=1AVzPKMpLaiyBz-2zjmHRT-vpuR8d_IjX ROS is currently 6.40.4 (Not upgraded to 6.42.7 as we had a problem with a previous upgrade which meant we ha...
OK - sorted now. Just need to take more time reading the manual. The full URL needs to be converted to hex so http://10.10.25.6:7457 becomes 68 74 74 70 3a 2f 2f 31 30 2e 31 30 2e 32 35 2e 36 3a 37 35 34 37 That's 22 bytes and for Option 43 it's Code 1, so I needed to add the hex for "1" (...
I'm struggling to get DHCP Server Option 43 working with a Genexis router. To get the router to talk to our CWMP server, I can manually enter the URL details on the Genexis unit http://10.10.25.6:7547 But to do this automatically, whatever I set up in the Mikrotik DHCP server, the Genexis does not s...
Hi @gmobilize Can you provide some details on what you have had to do to make GenieACS show the relevant info about your devices? Thanks hello guys, i have a little update on my experimental acs server using GenieACS in my local network: As for now i have configured a working GenieACS server that wi...
Great thread @dougunder Before we start trying out your script on some of our "friendly" customers can you, @Petri and@yottabit give some pointers on the "best" settings for the UK Considering the two $reset lines in the script $reset wlan1 2G 2ghz-b/g/n 20mhz 2412,2417,2422,2427...
Hi dougunder Can you share the "tweaking" you've used to improve the WiFi performance. Would be great if you can export the configuration from a working router and post it here We're still not convinced it's as good as it should be even using an older firmware image Thanks It never worked ...
Thanks @yhfung Issue already raised - no response yet but still with 3 day SLA. However, I'm looking for help from the user group to provide a stronger reassurance that we can resolve the problem particularly as we have more general questions being raised about Mikrotik WiFi performance and whether ...
We have ~130 clients using HAP AC and HAP AC Lite. The HAP AC customers are on a direct fibre link that can operate at speeds of up to 1Gbps The HAP AC Lite's are on a wireless network (WISP) with typical link speeds >100Mbps On a weekly basis we check that the Router OS is the latest release, and u...
@yottabit - Thanks for your reply. We're using HAP ac's (RB962UiGS-5HacT2HnT) - until you pointed out the difference I had not realised there were two versions. Sorry if I posted in the wrong place, In the past fortnight we've had lots of complaints a) slow WiFi performance b) unable to connect over...
Anyone know the first version of the firmware that suffered the poor WiFi problems? We have >130 clients using HAP ac's and recently started getting complaints about poor speeds. Bandwidth tests from the router and from PC's plugged straight into the router are all fine - it's just the WiFi that is ...
Did you ever get this working? We have a number of clients sitting behind a Cloud Core Router which is our route out to the internet. All individual clients have a SRC-NAT rule on the CCR so that they have a unique IP address to the outside world eg 0 chain=srcnat action=src-nat to-addresses=185.52....
Thanks for the responses - I'll speak to the customer and then look to turn off some of the lower data rates. I should have been a bit clearer in my question - I was particularly concerned about the difference in Rx/Tx rates - see lies 2,3 and 4. So why is the Tx rate really good but the Rx rate onl...
Can anyone help me understand why the Tx and Rx rates shown in the WiFi registration table are so different? WiFi Speeds.JPG I'm investigating a complaint from one of our customers about slow WiFi speeds. This could be completely unrelated but would help our debugging if we could interpret the table...
So, a bit more detective work. We've set up a brand new router, connected it to the network, assigned a static IP address 10.10.20.244 Entry appears in the ARP table Disconnect the router. - First time I tried this the entry disappears. - Second time entry persisted (complete with MAC address) but a...
I think we are seeing a similar problem - but it only just appears to have started. We have a Cloud Core Router (CCR) set up as a DHCP server. When we connect a new client, it assigned a dynamic IP address from a small pool - 10.10.20.30 to 10.10.20.50 We then manually go into the DHCP lease table, ...
We've got a CCR1009 at the interface between our network and the backhaul provider. Backhaul is a 300Mbps symmetrical on a 1 Gbps carrier. Our network typically runs with the load at 50-100MBps download with peaks to around 200MBps It's been in service for about 6 months. Performance is generally OK...
Anyone? We've put a huge amount of effort in reconfiguring our network so that it is routed instead of flat so we can rule out broadcast traffic Also found a mention of spanning tree protocol causing routers to hang, so we've disabled RSTP across the network. Any ideas how we can identify if this is...
Problem solved: My setup was completely fine, but there was something wrong with the fiber connetion to my provider. This was causing massive frame loss if speeds going above 100 MBit. 8) Hi captainproton We're seeing very similar symptoms. Upload fast. Download slow What was the problem with you f...
We have a Cloud Core Router CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+ as the primary connection between our network and the external internet. Clients on our network are given addresses over PPPoE. Each has a bandwidth limit of 100M/100M (our backbone is 300M/300M). The firewall is not extensive. Each customer has a fixed ...
