With your resistance probe, you can guess the type of the white items. Low resistance -> inductor... very high resistance -> capacitor. :)

D-Link Router, Supper Capacitor and Petrol

Hi Guys

This is what you do with problem d-link router.

Attach a super capacitor to a pre-inserted wire with a splash of petrol for effects.

Good idea. But on the other hand the batteries would be just another source of problems. Maybe capacitors would be better.
Capacitors can also give trouble and what size is required for this, if replacement was required then physical space for larger capacitor(s) is another consideration.

I did add the capacitor to 2 different RB750UPs with resetting POE ports, and both are perfectly fine afterwards.

Re: RouterOS v5.9 released

I think that your problem is hardware related. Try to replace the capacitors, on some RB-s help that. On this problem, I am sure replace capacitors will help: "In all these cases the issue almost completely disappeared by feeding the board by jack and at ...

... example if you can, try to disconnect all other devices using some antenna on the pole from outlet /AC220V. If problem cousing TV.. you can insert capacitor between ground of TV connector and ground on antenna cable to fix... However as your pole configuration is unknown, Im giving only wild guess.

If they are leaking or swollen, replace them cheaply and easily. Otherwise... Sounds like lightning ...

Re: Damaged routerboard after 1 day

you can't use "classic" transformer, you need to use "switching" power suply. I'm sorry to correct: the transformer with rectifier and filter capacitor - just classic adapter, what is life for many years. We use this anywhere on our network (about 30 APs), and yet we have no a similar problem. ...
