Re: How to update RB450G from 3.23 ?

Note that you can't use winbox license update anymore, the URL it used isn't valid anymore. Make a supout file and send it to the support@mikrotik and they will give you a new key for your RB. Also last time I did this on RB600, I ended up in a bootloop somewhere after updating to v6, so had to neti...

No USB wireless is supported. None, on any platform.
For CHR, there is no wireless support at all.
You have to run normal Mikrotik for that and only Atheros based PCI/PCI-E cards work.

Not a bad idea, but to get even smaller idle data size, another idea: Use scripting+scheduler to try to connect to special TCP port on your router (using telnet). Other vendors offer "band steering" that usually works well and can move devices that support 5GHz to that band, freeing 2.4GHz for devices that can't work anywhere else. So far everytime I had non-booting routerboard, it was caused by bad capacitors on board or some serious external damage (lighting/overvoltage from antenna). Workaround might be to use virtual AP and create different APs for different clients. That way you would have separate interfaces you can sniff on. There might be some way to force devices to only connect to their AP using access lists (and virtual APs can all have same SSID).
