Click the red plus sign in the upper left of the map and select link. Next, click and hold the mouse button one of the devices you want to create a link between and move the cursor to the other device. That's it. You can select simpl or SNMP when the link properties box appears.

I have the following network topology: Three router topology with interconnecting links making a triangle. Two the routers have a connections to an ISP and thus the network has two gateways. In normal load balancing, a single gateway router as multiple links to ISPs. Since my network topology has tw...

Static IP and DHCP static IP addressing

I have couple of questions regarding usermanger. I would like to use for a fix wirless ISP. Can usermgr do the following: 1. ISP is statically assignin IPs to CPEs. Can user manager rate limit on a specific IP? 2. ISP is using static DHCP. Can user manager assign static IP addresses based on CPE MAC...

Rebroadcast ether frames within a broadcast domain?

Does RouterOS have the capability to rebroadcast traffic with a destination address within the broadcast domain? I have a Trango AP that can not bridge traffic coming from subscriber units so subscribers on the same AP can not communicate with one another. Obviously, I could put folks that need to c...

Make a simple queue for each user using the IP address as the identifier. If all users are going to get the same BW, then just make simple queues for each IP address that is in your DHCP pool. If you want to differeniate between users, use static DHCP so you can control the IP each user gets and set...

Secondary Addresses

Does Mikrotik support secondary address on interfaces like Cisco allows? i.e, specifying multiple subnets on a single interface.

Hmm. OK. I was just going by what I have read. It was specified that private IPs are non routeable. All router manufacturers still route private IPs? They can't possibly because there would be a bunch of duplicate prefixes. Is it that routing protocols will not advertise private IPs to other routers...

Yeah, everything looks OK. From the Mikrotik, it can see everything. There are no issues within the lan as connectivity is fine within a LAN and out to the SP. I Bridged the 192.168 and 10.0 interfaces last night to get connectivity between LANs. One of my questions is about non-routable IPs. All in...

Thanks. I have it setup just like that. If I am on the 192.168 LAN, I can't even ping the 10.0.0.1 interface. I wasn't sure if that was due to the fact that I'm trying to ping a private/non routable IP. I didn't think non routable IPs were propagated through an interface without additional con...

The users in the 192.168 subnet can communicate with each other and get to the internet. Same as the 10.0 subnet. However, the users in the 192.168 subnet can't talkto the users on the 10.0 subnet and vice versa. What do I neet to change to allow the 192.168 and 10.0 subnets to communicate? i.e, If ...

Routing private subnet to private subnet?

I have three interfaces in a router. One is a public interface connecting to a service provider and two additional interfaces that are on private subnets: 10.0.0.0/24 and 192.168.0.0/24 How do I allow these two private subnet to communicate with each other since they both contain non routable IPs? I...

Hi Eugene: Sorry, I might not have made my question clear. I wasn't looking for a router config but just stating the requirements. I read through all of the sections on PPPoE, traffic shaping, AAA, but didn't find the info I needed. Thus the questions. If PPPoE can assign static addresses and limit ...

Traffic shaping, multiple classess of services, and PPPoE?

I need a RouterOS configuration to meet the following ISP requirements: 1. User authenication needed to receiving an IP address (PPPoE). 2. Multiple download/upload speed packages are available for users (128k/256/512, etc symmetrical or asymmetrical). 3. Traffic shaping is needed for all users. Wha...
