Poor streaming performance (wireless-fp and hw-only queue)

Hello. I have observed and confirmed the following in a metro area PtMP NV2 network. I am the admin but also one of the clients. I like to use XBMC to watch HD streaming content. My TCP bandwidth fluctuates around 30 - 40 Mbps down, 43 - 53 Mbps up, with 3 - 5 ms ping. The access point is an Omnitik...

Wireless package missing from two latest RCs

Hello, The wireless package is completely missing from all architectures in the all_files.zip of the two last rc versions (rc9 and rc10). I was did not see that at first (it is nowhere in the changelog) and upgraded two routers. The result was to lose wireless and also lose all wireless configuratio...

Re: Got fq_codel yet?

I would't think so. Support for it before Linux 3.5 is nonexistent and even after 3.5 it is still very sparse. It seems that 3.12 is the lowest sensible requirement. Can we expect it to land in v7? Normis?

I finally went ahead and tried it... And yes, in the last version of rOS, the old "wireless" package has been purged and the "wireless-fp" package has taken its place, renamed as simply "wireless". I would suggest also replacing the router at boss' home with a mikrotik (say the http://routerboard.com/RB951G-2HnD), and setting it up the way I described, ie with an EoIP connection over a PPtP link. The EoIP interfaces (one on each side) would be added to the LAN bridge of each of the routers and...

It would be very nice if the next RouterOS could support HFSC as a QoS mechanism. The reason for this is that, unlike HTB which is bandwidth-based, HFSC also takes latency parameters into account.
