Re: MikroTik/RouterBOARD SXT 5D 16dB antenna weather concern

Thank you for the opinion. I didn't mean to say it's "flawless". We will keep improving it just like all our products. We are listening to suggestions and we take them seriously. I am not disputing this. It only looks like MT's design department has no memory and is more driven by producing low pri...

Re: how to earth a SXT or Groove?

to the left of the ethernet, is a grounding connector (metallic loop). Capture.PNG connect grounding wire there. for the groove, you can only use the shielded cable and ground at the bottom of the tower (at the next device). Ok, I suspected that strange ring to be the ground. How to connect a cable...

"For normal outdoor environment usage". What does that mean? Re: strange in mangle

Traffic from Youtube (or any website/server) should be marked by the use of the dst-address list. It is your local LAN user that initiates a connection, so the src-address is the IP of the user on your LAN request a distant server from YouTube (dst-address). Hence that your first two rules don't cat...

Re: Setting up RB52N-M in a 2x2 MIMO configuration

Nice post, thank you. What about standards? Does MIMO work only on 802.11n? What about other standards (nstream for example)? Does MIMO pay's off? Some experts on this forum say that MIMO can give you 10%-15% max and if you are realy lucky. MIMO = 802.11n 802.11n works fine with Nv2, about nstreme ...

Tim,

Would you be willing to modify the code to use Openstreet Maps instead of Google Maps? The reason being Google charges 10,000 dollars to use their maps for asset tracking.

Mike
Oeps, be prepared to pay him some % of this.... :o
Great topic though!

Re: 900Mhz N Card Planned?

I'm afraid chadd came up with the best arguments so far.... secondly: Client radios are not limited to 36dbm. You can boost up the clients what you want, if you not at the same time increase the client antenna gain (and then boosting up the client makes no more sense) it doesn't serve any purpose. O...

Re: Choose the right wireless mode

So it should be:

AP: AP with dynamic wds
CPE 2: bridge
CPE 3: station wds
CPE 1: station wds

is it correct?
Yes, and CPE 2 also with dynamic wds

Re: HOW TO USE MT TO RUN A HIGH POWER WISP

If each client has his own antenna than this antenna can be dhcp-client and you just assign his bandwith in the AP. If client now use more PC's he has to share his assigned speeds since the CPE (=client unit) is the one having the limit (set in AP). If you set this CPE as router and with masquerade ...

I am working with a prototype. Keep in touch. If I get it done I will send you all the specs. I am guessing I will have twice the nlos as the XR9 card. Yes is 802.11n 2 ports.
It's a pity in Europe we are not allowed to use 900Mhz...

Re: Setting up RB52N-M in a 2x2 MIMO configuration

Ohh.Ok.. Does MIMO mean that one antena is V-Pol and the other is H-Pol? Or does MIMO mean both antennas are both H-Pol (or V-Pol)? Does the other side of PtP link need to follow the same scheme? IF YES Does the ITELITE 5GHz enclosure allow adjusting the polarization of antennas? For example rotati...

Re: Choose the right wireless mode

Hi sonny and thanks for your answer!
On CPE2, with the standard licencse, I can't use AP mode!
Use "bridge" mode, not "AP-bridge" This way AP will only connect to one station which is allowed. (This is how they bridge SXT units)
All the other advices given by sonny are ok.

Re: how to find out the model no. of wireless card

Well by -93/96 I mean the noise varies betn 93 to 96. So I dont think Noise is an issue. The signal for all clients r -55 to -72 So that is not an issue either. There is no question for Fresnel as my tower is 140 ft above ground and the clients r on 8-9 stories buildings located in an arc from my s...
