The max reliable distance between two Omnitiks is 1 km. According to Mikrotik Link Calculator. Look at the power field, you have set 26 mw, but omnitik gives you 26 dBm that is 398mw. Dang! Re: voltage difference??

No, because the power supply is rated at a certain amps at 12 or 24 volts, not a certain amps at 3.3 volts. Watts = Volts x Amps Assume you have a power supply 12volts / 1.0 amps: So, 12 volts at max 1 amp would be max 12 watts available from the power supply 3.3 volts at 1.1 amp would only be 3.6 ...

If it is still showing FTP failures in the log while the FTP service is disabled, that is a definate bug.

On the routerboards with built-in antennas, like the RB751, how much does the polarity of the unit "horizontal-vs-vertical / desk-vs-wall" actually affect the wireless signal pattern? Would they required to be mounted vertically (wall/post) for best performance?

Just don't masq them at each endpoint Mikrotik. Wait until that last gateway router before you masq them. Then they keep their individual addresses until they go out that final interface to the Internet.

Your clients can each only get 1 IP address. Why would a Mac get 2 IP addresses?

Have you changed the keepalive timeouts? That is how often it looks for disconnected clients.

Unable to ping, even with a static address? That has nothing to do with DHCP. DHCP is GIVING you a loopback address? That sounds unlikely. Do you actually have a DHCP Server on those additional AP's? It won't magically work across multiple interfaces, you have to setup DHCP server on each interface,...

Re: MikroTik ftp , webserver help

You don't want clients accessing the ftp on your router! They will have FULL ACCESS to create files, delete files, etc. Even if not intentional, they would accidently delete your files or cause other problems. You need a separate full ftp server on another computer, and the router can dst-nat to it.

Re: Mikrotik proxy.

The Mikrotik web proxy is a full proxy, although it does not have as many features as squid. It will cache windows updates, or whatever you want it to. On RB750, I think the cache will be smaller than 30MB, because that is all that is available on the RAM or the disk. You can use an external proxy t...

Re: MTU needed for Remote Desktop

I use RD over PPTP with the default MTU of 1460 and it works perfectly through v3.19 and v4.2

Do you have "Change TCP MSS" checked in the ppp profile? It should be turned on.

Re: SOLVED! Winbox on Windows-7 using MAC Address doesn't work

This issue has been resolved, thanks to this older thread that had a similar problem:
http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22090

The issue is the virtual Sun Java's VirtualBox Network Interface (similiar to VMWare).

Disable that network interface, and it works perfectly!

Preconfigured IPSec VPN Client???

Has anyone created or ran across an ipsec client software that could be preconfigured, similiar to the client vpn client? Currently, it is no simple task for a user to setup their computer to connect l2tp/ipsec to mikrotik. The cisco vpn client is so simple for users, just click and go. Something li...

Re: RouterOS License and v4 questions

press "Update Key" in "License Window"
I thought that "Update Key" was only required for v4. He indicates having the same problem with 3.28 and 3.30.

Re: RouterOS License and v4 questions

Re: ChangeIP email says login to prevent cancel??

As long as they update at least once every 28 days, doesn't that basically mean they are being actively used? When they no longer get updated, then they are obviously not used anymore.
