When will Mikrotik launch an elegant solution for running HSDPA on routerboards? AFAIK, currently the only option is PCMCIA or USB clients on the RB230. The other day one of the clients (Broadcom based) lost connection and I had to re-configure it. Still it wasn't able to connect, so i finally rebooted the AP (BTW RB333 with rc13 that has run for 55 days!), in the same operation I upgraded to 3.1. I haven't checked whether JP6 is there. RB333 should be the way to go but in my opinion they fall short of being a backhaul class board. Build quality is poor and you are forced to use non-release software.
Can you please explain in which way the RB333 is "poor build quality" and what consequences it might have? Just curious.

Need small cheap CPE on 5-6 ghz no on full of noise 2.4ghz.
Routerboards do not carry radios onboard themselves, the radios are added as MiniPCI cards.
To be able to use a specific MiniPCI under ROS, Mikrotik must provide drivers for it.

Re: What is going on here?

My guess would be P2P. Do you have access to that machine to check it out? -Louis No, it's a client computer on an open hotspot in a harbour. My guess is also P2P. A large number of connections, rather constant use of bandwidth, IP addresses unable to reverse-DNS makes me believe this. But I have a...

Re: Unable to block P2P by "all-P2P"

Well, from what I've read P2P programs nowadays use encryption, standard ports (http port 80?) and such things to hide from filters, so that once a packet is recognized as P2P, the connection must be tagged to be able to drop further packets on the same connection. Anyway, there must be something se...

Firewall settings - trying to copy from MT demorouter

When setting up a firewall I thought I'd copy the settings from the MT demo router at demo2.mt.lv. But as can be seen I get an error message when running the "ip firewall export" command. Why is that? Am I missing parts of the firewall when exporting? [demo@demo2.mt.lv] > ip firewall expor...

remove the 6db gain setting, that will decrease transmit power by 6db i believe to stay 'legal'. also check if your using antenna a or b. Sam No, the opposite! Specifying antenna gain in ROS makes it account for antenna gain to stay legal, specifying 0 dB antenna will allow more tx power. However, ...

Apparently the issues related to channel and link speed were due to the wireless settings, I had forgot to set "regulatory domain" and select country on the station. Is it normal that only the lowest channel can be selected then? Was my poor rate due to power restrictions or just restricti...

Is this P2MP? Otherwise a 120 deg sector is huge waste of RF. Anyway you should use a regular directional on the far side. Should be no need to blow at full power if you aim your signal properly.

In most cases PoE cable length will be restricted by maximum Ethernet cable length. In particular this will apply to Mikrotik due to its wide power span.
However, several high-power card might cause too high drop or even temperature rise?
