Re: v6.48 [stable] is released!

To someone having problems with SIP phones: Could you please check log of the router with ROS 6.48, whether there are unexpected flapping events (link down/up) or not? Since the linkdowns last between 1 and 2 seconds (as observed in my lab), it could cause "Lagged" state in Asterisk when ...

Almost every device out there based on ipq4018/4019 has atleast 256MB of RAM. So each socket has 64 cores and each CPU is it's on NUMA node if my memory is correct. So if you want to use more then 64 cores you have to use more then one socket.

How have you configured CPU on the VM the CHR is running on?

I think you are misunderstanding IP on the bridge. This is the vlan that the bridge itself is on. So when you add a IP to the bridge you put that IP on that vlan. View this as the MGMT VLAN. Now according to the example the last thing you do is to set a rule for vlan 1 that is tagged for Bridge but ...

ROS version, MT firmware and modem firmware.
Upgrading modem firmware solved my 4G issues.

Here is how to update modem firmware https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:I ... re_upgrade

CHR is a virtual appliance where MT can deliver a product to a plattform they know. They only have to deal with drivers from each hypervisor and hardware drivers are maintained by the hypervisor. My guess is that the router check if there are any new versions available.
I have noted that if I use the Mikrotik app on Android I see on the "login page" if there is a update available on some units before I check manually.

Re: Configuring a Trunk Port on ROS installed on top of VMWare Workstation

I think you are limited to E1000 cards if you use x86 but if you use CHR you can use vxmnet3 which will give more performance.
In your case you test both if you use a hypervisor:)

Re: FastTrack Problems

I tried 6.40 and 6.41rc3 and got the same results of not working when i re-enabled the firewall policies.
Very weird :/
Have you contacted support?

Re: VPN is fast, but Internet traffic is slow

Just in case someone is having issue like me, in order to switch off fast-track, you need to disable a firewall rule with chain=forward and action=fasttrack connection. Test upgrading to 6.40 which should solve this What's new in v6.40 (2017-Jul-21 08:45): *) fasttrack - fixed fasttrack over interf...

Re: FastTrack Problems

Hello,

We are running version 6.39.2 with the latest firmware upgrade on the routerboard.
Test the new current 6.40 which should solve these issues!

Re: Configuring a Trunk Port on ROS installed on top of VMWare Workstation

I'm I understanding this right that you are switching from CHR to a x86 installation on VMware? May I ask why you are doing this? Regardless I would suggest you switch to ESX instead. If my memory serves me right it's free if you do not plan to use vCenter. If you are using CHR you can use Hyper-V a...

Re: FastTrack Problems

If you have virtual interfaces, like I have with bonding, try to add static MAC or try out latest RC release as this will fix issue with dynamic MAC and fasttrack or wait for 6.39.3 which should solve this as well.

Re: VPN is fast, but Internet traffic is slow

In the 6.39.x release there is an issue with fast track and dynamic MAC on interfaces. I had this issue and this was resolved by adding forced MAC to my bonded interfaces. My guess is you are suffering from something similar on VPN interfaces. 6.40rc has a fix for this and MT said this fix should be...

Re: FastTrack Problems

What version are you using? I also had several issues with fasttrack starting with version 6.39.
This turned out to be dynamic MAC on my bonded interfaces. I added forced mac on the bonded interface and it solved all issues. In rc release they have fixed this issue.

Can we close this thread and open a new one with a better title as the new bridge is removed. Less confusing :)

Re: If FastTrack is useful for VPN?

Yeap, I've read that that long ago, but since that time I read some updated on fasttrack in changelogs so I hoped fasttrack finally can be used for input, too. But if I run NAT then no point in it, too? It is my understanding that fasttrack is to be used in forward as it lowers the CPU usage as if ...

I have no issues at all using Windows 10 with 1703 build using Winbox 3.11. What version of Winbox are you using and what version of ROS are you connecting to?

Re: RouterOS X86 or CHR for PPPOE BRAS?

I would go for CHR based but as you say there are a few things to think about. If you need high speed throughput VMware is your best bet due to drivers. And if your hypervisor infrastructure or skills lack this will be the major issue. There are many who treat CHR as X86 ad from what I can read this...
