Mesh with multiple uplinks?

Hello, I am planning a wireless mesh with about 8 to 12 APs (mostly rb951g-2hnd) in the first stage, more will follow. Is it possible that 5 (more later) of them have wired uplink (eth1) to the central switch and rb800 for internet gateway? How is mesh routing done in this case? Is it possible to us...

I hope I'm wrong though.
I hope you are wrong too... v7 is at least 2 years away... + the time to kill all the bugs with new version... I can't wait that long, I risk loosing customers to competition.

It is never about the number of users when it comes to resource consumption (cpu/memory) ... it is always about the amount of traffic (packets/bandwidth) they will generate and other configuration options you will use (firewall, queue, nat, proxy, ...). Yes, latest revision comes preinstalled with v6 and will not work with old versions. Re: RB751G-2HnD and RB751U-2HnD

Sorry Normis, Maybe with one client who's close to the AP, and even then... With multiple users on multiple distances it ain't great at all. (softly spoken!) We deployed +/- 60 of them in hotspot setups. Tried all ROS versions from 5.6 to 5.16 and posted tons of support tickets. We eventually ended...

Anyone tested RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN or any RB2011 board compared to RB450G when it comes to IPSEC ?

Re: Spectrum Noise on RB751U-2HnD

My unit works ok but I have trouble getting completely fast and reliable performance out of the wireless interface especially using channel 11 up right next to the noise I'm seeing. I can get better performance from a Ubiquiti AirRouter on it's wireless. I bought these unit because I couldn't get m...

Re: Spectrum Noise on RB751U-2HnD

Sounds like there is a problem with some of the later 751U hardware since we have a few people all seeing the exact same thing. Unfortunately, that just means to me that I will not be using this Mikrotik device and will thoroughly test the wireless of any future hardware before putting it into prod...

Re: Spectrum Noise on RB751U-2HnD

I guess my suggestion to anyone wanting to try one of these units would be to just go with something else since we can't seem to get rid of this crazy noise inside these boxes.
Has anyone tested the new RB2011UAS-2HnD for this issue?

Does anyone know if there will be a wireless rackmount version of the RB2011 ?
Or any RB2011 with minipci slot(s)?

Re: Spectrum Noise on RB751U-2HnD

I am getting the same results with RB751U-2HnD, RB751G-2HnD and RB711UA-2HnD with swivel antennas ... all three devices are very far away (100km+) so it is impossible for them to share the same signal source .... unless there is a satelite gone bezerk somwhere above central europe. Re: DDWRT - Microtik

But, why would you choose rb800 over an intel Atom platform - namely D2500CC? It has 2 real cpu cores, 2 Intel gig lans, and ofcourse you can boot OpenWRT or DD-WRT, although I would recommend Openwrt. Well.. this is my fault... should have read the forum, not just the routeros features on mikrotik...

First i would like to say hello, I'm new to this forum. My old Linksys (running tomatousb) died due to the thunderstorm, so I have to choose new hardware. My current network: gigabit 8 port switch (linksys) My ISP provides me internet through WIFI (5GHz) at 20Mbit/s speed. He's aerial is just 50-60...

Inspect the traffic on your network (port mirroring, wireshark) to see what is beeing transfered arround, also sounds like mac flooding attack http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_flooding

Re: IPsec VPN encryption performance

Hello, what is the most effective IPsec encryption algorithm for MIPS 24Kc V7.4 cpu related boards? It seems 3des which is the default setting consumes lots of cpu cycles. I have recently switched from 3des to aes-128 and md5 on my networks after switching to ftth, because rb751g-2hnd units I have ...

Re: questions about mikrotik hotspot

if you use the internal hotspot function to limit the speed (like setting it in the user profile section), it doesnt matter where the client connects, it always limits its speed to 1mbps. but you can choose to setup your own traffic shaping instead. it that case, you could only apply the limitation...

v6 has features to generate certificats, and also SCEP. OVPN UDP and LZO will not be added, at least not in the near future. As those two options seem to be the two most requested options on your forums for quite some time it is realy hard for me, as an experienced programer and developer, to under...

feature request: implement certificate revocation lists (CRL) in OpenVPN server. explanation: when client certificate used for OVPN connection is compromised/revoked by CA, mikrotik OVPN server has no option to block it (except to change username/password in /ppp secrets). +1 :) +1 + UDP, LZO, push...

Re: Feature Request: OpenVPN [ovpn] udp tunnels

Hi It seems a bit odd (to say at least) to implement a feature as OpenVPN the way that makes it unusable for about 95% (my guess) of existing infrastructure. Not to mention that many of us do NOT always have an ability to change the server's side of configuration and that there are features in place...
