Re: RB493G as PPPoE Server --> How many Users can handle

Have a look at www.routerboard.com for the RB specs. Main limitation will be CPU, which is directly link to bandwidth usage. Think the license allow something like a 1000 PPPoE clients.

Re: Bridge Link Troubleshooting / Advice Needed [R52Hn]

Very nice link. :) Can't see a major problem. Perhaps try and use chain1 at client instead of chain0 and see what happens. Also i would probably not use nstream on such a short link, but that, will probably only influence your pings. Also R53n cards would probably be better. Again distance is very s...

That is what makes it nice. With 802.11 G radio, you can make use of two aerials, using one for TX and one for RX, effectively doubling your speed. No need for more than one radio card per router board.

/ip firewall address-list
add list=exempt-from-pcc address=x.x.x.x/32
This way, your forum will make use of your default route.
You will still have problems with secure sites and some game servers unless you make use of src-address in PCC classifier.

At one time with 802.11N and around V4.17 it had to be set to 15 ms in order not to drop connection, but apparently with NV2 it has to be set shorter in order to better pings. You choose. :-)

Not possible. This is called bonding and your service provider has to support it. Some do but they supply there own routers. Closes is with PPC but the max speed will be 4 Meg although with some download managers it might appear as though you run 8 Meg because they are using both lines.

Better try and make some sort of sketch on your system, what you want to do. What i can say. If you want to use mac authentication. The access point for client has to be the hotspot, unless you use bridging. As soon as you route through a router, it wont work.

RIP Routing problem

This is one of those weird once. Have got a few clients with RB133 boards, set up exactly the same, except for the ip’s. One of them just does not want to update IP routing table using rip. Only thing strange I see is when opening the rip interface, the TX and RX update is constantly counting, where...

This explains a few things. Thanks. Still don’t know though, whether simple queues upload is traffic going towards the router or traffic going from the router.

Killing proxy in hotspot, kill internet access after time

If I disable transparent proxy in hotspot user profile, within 24 ours I start getting users complaining. The problem is the get login page and can log in and out bat no access to internet. As soon as I enable transparent proxy, every thing runs fine. This is a huge problem for my queue setup. Any h...

Ok. I understand the queue type and that your uploads are classified with src-address and downloads by dst-address. Whish would be for your local lan and public lan interface. What I am not sure about are target upload, in simple queues the traffic going to the router or from the router? Also if it ...

Guise you are talking about different subnet mask? Is on different ip range al together and of cause subnet. If you talk about another Nat rule for masquerading? Did that and put rule before Nat rule that route traffic through wan 1. Can see traffic going to wan 2 but not masqueraded. Thanks

Not script, but think I know your problem. Maybe this help. In user profile set an idle time out time. Maybe 15 min. This cause user to automatically log out if not using internet for 15 min and as soon as user use internet, the cookie logs him back on. Won’t even know it happened.

Can’t promise you that, but if access point use standard 802.11 a, b, g

Not sure if I understand good, but here goes routing. When routing the chance of client ip and usermanager server being in same subnet are very slim. Also found in OS 3 automatically use proxy, which is not bad, but if enabling cash on hard disk after a tim...

Hi. Think is maybe a bug in OS 3. You are talking if looking in winbox, yes? The info however is correctly stored on router board and you will find that if you manually put ip into winbox, you would be able to connect to board. Don’t think this will help, but this is what I found. :-)

This is exactly what would happen if you rout the info to the radius server instead of using bridge. In this setup bridge not bad but if you should expand, bridge very bad for broadcasting traffic. Start with routing. Won’t regret.

Something doesn’t sound right. If routed right from client through to server the source ip would be client’s ip. No matter through which tower you route.
