you're right. 199 is given to the pc from the dhcp_server and times out when i ping it from the server.
i have another ip, 101, given to me from hotspot and that one responds to ping

how can i make it only one ip? why two?

nevermind i fixed it

under ip hotspot users profile i unchecked Transparent, kicked the active users off and now the web proxy is taking hits.

3. Why are you installing RouterOS on a harddrive? No one else does, Cisco use CF for IOS, So should you. Its a non-issue

i was looking at the winbox pool screen and everytime someone logs in they are given TWO ips.

P.S. i could have sworn it worked with NOTHING in the remote address section when i first set it up. as long as its working now i am totally cool!

i may have fixed it.

well at least i am getting an ip.

what i did was under profile i selected the pppoe-pool i created in LOCAL ADDRESS and REMOTE ADDRESS

i could swear that when it was working REMOTE ADDRESS didnt have anything selected.

maybe thats what was missing?

The src-nat rule with action=masq does not have anything to do with the hotspot users surfing or not. The fields in the user profiles are in bits per second. You'll need trailing zeros to get the speed you want, ie 54000 instead of 54.

i am not in demo mode. i reinstalled yesterday and noticed the softid changed when i reinstalled. i am using CDinstall my qusetion is right now everything is working. if i purcahse a key for the softid i have now and maybe in the future i reinstall will they key work for the new softid or something.
