1 cat5, 2 poe, no data?

This would clearly be a home brew, but as PoE only uses 2 pair, could you rig up a PoE Injector, then a PoE splitter that would ALSO use the other 2 free pair to push power?

I have a pole that has 2 repeaters and i would love to provide power to them over 1 cat5 as that is all im allowed to use. (again these repeaters do not need data from the CAT5, they get the data via WDS.)

tks

you could just use a wire junction and split the power from the original.
you could probably use a telco pushpin juntion box.

Mind you it would depend upon the power supply capabilities, the gauge and quality of the ethernet, and the distance or length.

I suspect you would be fine just splitting the power, providing that you are using a 48v supply. Higher Voltage requires less power to acheive the same current.

tks..didnt think of even trying to splice in…i would be powering a MT 133 w/ a SR2 and a MOTO surfboard cable modem (common).

the surfboard accepts 12V 750mA. As of now i have been powering my personal Surfboard modem via my custom PoE setup for testing, and it has worked flawlessly thus far (as expected).

any input as to how much a RB 133 + SR2 + MOTO Cablemodem would draw?

tks
