10 GB fiber problem

Hi,

I have RB4011iGS+ with sfpplus interfaceon one, and CRS305-1G-4S+ with 4 sfpplus interfaces on the other side.

Between them there are two Finisar FTLX8571D3BCL sfp modules (all info I can get says that it is 10G capable) and HP 3PAR 10G 10m (pn 850-200029) blue fiber cable with llc connectors, which is also declared to be 10GB capable.

Bandvwidth test between routers peaks with 2GB for a second or two and settles at slightly above 1GB at the best !

Can anyone tell what could be the problem?

regards

The problem is bandwidth test, consume both CPU.
Use another method with two device that generate traffic on both side, and CPU is not involved.

Hi,

I knew that, but somehow I expected more than 1 Gbit. Especially confusing was the fact that the throughput was exactly 1 Gbit so I suspected that something is wrong with router, switch, cable... etc.
Anyway I have just setup two older supermicro servers (x8STI) with ubuntu 22..., Mellanox 10 Gb interfaces, Chelsio SFP-s and voila 10 Gbit (allmost) transfer is achieved.

So, you were right... regards

Also please be in mind that not both devices are Routers, CRS305-1G-4S+IN is a switch with L3 capabilities!

try

traffic-generator tool

ok, and how does this fact affect the problem i have described?

on linux?

Hi

iperf / iperf3 could help you with linux test. Use enought threads.

.this is exactly what I have used… :+1:
