10 GbE Multiport (more than 2) Mikrotik RouterOS router?

Does anyone have any recommendations or have any info on any upcoming products that will support more that 2 SFP+ 10 GbE ports. I know the latest CCR will support 2 SFP+ ports, but I really would like to see a platform with at least 4 SFP+ ports, or even some copper 10 GbE ports.

Is there such a device out there now or is everyone just bonding 1 Gbit ports?

Jim

wait for the MUM at 20/21 Feb 2014. Mikrotik announces new products usually at the MUM events. maybe they will have such a system then.

Good Idea. Has Mikrotik released any info on potential new products they are planning to officially announce at MUM?

No they are super secretive about new products.

My radar is picking up hints of:

CCR1072
Wireless Controller
RouterOS 7 Beta
802.11ac routers

I would also like to hear more about a Roadmap for RouterOS 7 with “new routing”, we have been waiting for it for a very long time now.

Well, not too much longer until MUM, so hopefully we will have some news soon.

Do any 3rd parties currently make any 10 GbE RouterOS boxes, or has anyone here built their own?

Jim

  • Build your own router by using x86 hardware and than I suggest using HotLava multiport network cards (2, 4 and 6 LAN Port cards in each variant SFP, copper based or SFP+)
Otherwise use ordinary Intel server network adapter.

  • Buy a Lanner FW-8995 Appliance their you will be able to insert 4 modules each with 4 SFP+ LAN Ports (VMWare or Xen and then RouterOS in the VMs)

  • Wait until MukroTik is announcing the CCR1072 perhaps this device owns more SFP or GBE LAN ports.

Also likes me but also for a better CPU multicore usage in the RouterOS and RouterOS for Tilera platform but more than that would be a really x86_64 Bit RouterOS with huge and EEC RAM support.
