100% CPU load on Mikrotik RB2011 (download 280Mbps)

Hi there my dear community,

I am a (not so) happy owner of a Mikrotik router model: 2011UiAS-2HnD
I have contracted 1Gbps bandwidth from my ISP.
I have tried to measure the speed using speedtest.net
I am not sure where the problem is: ISP, Router or my computer, but what I can see for sure is 98-100% usage of the CPU when running in terminal:

system resource monitor: cpu-used: 100%
I am using the most up to date OS: MikroTik RouterOS 6.31 and firmware available for this RouterBoard: 3.24.

Huge thanks for your hint or advice.

That performance sounds realistic. The most I’ve seen is around 300 Mbps. You could see if FastPath / FastTrack will squeeze a few more MB/s out of it.

Below are the performance test results visible on the routerboard.com website. In future Id suggest checking these to pick the correct router.

Salve dear by marrold,

I am not sure how to read the table from the website, I was actually looking over those numbers before deciding to purchase the model in discussion.
Let me try to understand the table, maybe I am wrong in here, I am looking at “Routing” line “none (fast path)” with default 1518 byte pack.
So, if I am on the right cell, then I should be able to achieve a speed of 1481 Mbps, or… I am not looking where I am supposed to? ( this is also a bit surprising as I am not sure how a router with gigabit ports - 1000Mbps could go as high as 1481 Mbps…)
Huge thanks for your reply

PS:
I am not sure how can I enable : “FastPath / FastTrack”

I sustain 500Mbps at 65% with fasttrack but no bridge.

It’s caled Upstream+Downstream. 1Gbps+1Gbps=1481mbps

Thank you InoX,
now I understand how Mr. vortex achieved 500Mbps, he would have similar to what I have 250 down and 250 up = 500
I have managed and activated Fast track, I can not really see the difference, CPU is still 100% and download is still close to 300 Mbps :frowning:

Vortex needs to post his configuration before his value has any relevance.

I have 500/15

NAT, a couple dozen rules, no bridge, no mangle, no PPPoE, no VLAN, no SFP, hardly any inter-switch routing, wireless disabled.

Did you configure master/slave ports or are you throwing all local traffic to the CPU?

Is yours ethernet speed or wireless speed?

Since getting rid of the bridge on the sideline, it has improved a bit.

Now it’s 500Mbps at up to 60%.

A bridge between 2 other ports, one on each switch is not degrading the routing of the non-bridged ports.

I tried changing the interface queues to ethernet-default, but routing through the bridge still degrades.
