Does anyone know of a SFP that will work with a CCR2004 that the port speed can be set to fixed 100m/full ? Ive tried several mfgs, and as the documentation says, RJ-01 will not do fixed rates. I have a customer thats standing their ground on 100m/fixed, and am trying to accomodate. Any suggestions? Seems like a simple thing, though Ive spent quite a bit of money on different mfg sfps to try and no luck so far, getting expensive!
Is this a silly question? Does mikrotik not support fixed rates on sfps?
As this wiki page (other sections) is already updated with CCR2004 info, there is no doubt that 100M is not supported.
No surprise, actually, because no other Mikrotik device supports 100M on SFP+ interfaces.
I guess we read that page differently. When I read it, they have listed that the 2004 is compatible with 1G and 10G sfp modules (which if memory serves me right sfp’s all are 1G or better). Then they go into detail on what the RJ01 supports, which they list that it only supports auto. But what its not telling you, is if the router hardware has the ability to drive a sfp in manual mode, if that sfp supports it. Under the RJ01 section they do not list the 2004, but I have verified it will auto to 100 if thats all the device is capable of, and they are both set to auto. The only section it tells you that fixed link speeds are not supported is under the RJ01 sfp. Not the router.
Which makes me question why on an sfp interface is there an option to utilize fixed mode, if its not supported by the hardware.
I think I didn’t read your initial post throughly because I was talking about 100M fiber links.
Wiki is clear on two things:
- there is no Mikrotik device, that supports 100M fiber links on SFP+ port in any mode (neither auto nor fixed).
- Mikrotik’s copper modules don’t support fixed rates.
You are right - wiki is unclear about copper modules from other manufactures.
But I guess there is almost no chance, that SFP+ ports will work on 100M with some other copper module.
Actually, the CCR1009-7G-1C series supports 100M fiber links on the combo port. But I think these are the only MT devices doing so.
