11n Rx/Tx is 54/300 !!

Hello everyone,

I have SEXTANT and RB493G both running in 5GHz and both in N mode only, everything is same except the AP-bridge mode for RB493G and Station-Bridge for SEXTANT, and still the air physical rate is showing as 54/300 mbps only.

Speed test shows that the rate reach up to 170mbps for Rx and not more than 30mbps for Tx in the SEXTANT !!

What do you expect the problem to be ?

r u using 20/40 mhz frequency or just 20 Mhz on the sextant.
use the advanced data rates as well.

Do u use p2p antennas? It may seems like adjusting sextant (and other pt(m)p) need to have a more acurate adjustment than earlier a/b/g devises needed to get good speed. A ptp with ubnt rocket dish, and r5hn, needs more acurate adjustment than our licensed horizon devices. (and it says about 0,8 degree) Earlier we could say. its about that direction. somewhere. and all was ok and good. now we need to adjust adjust adjust adjust to get good result. Also to good signal, make this problems. (short distance, high power card, and good antenna)


Its also common to get this kind of result if using frequency with interferrence. Tried to change?

Also be aware of chain 0 and 1, and enable in both ends.

Yes its 20/40, otherwise it wont give the 120mbps speed in the Rx ! but not the Tx :confused:

ok I guess maybe its an issue coz yes I am using an antenna from ubnt Sector one, and i did put it and the SEXTANT both randomly beside each other while I am getting -1/-2 dbm signal ! its maybe something regarding the direction and the polarization, so i will check that and tell u what happened .

About the frequency there is almost no other device in 5ghz around , but I will change the frequency to something else too and give u the results ..

with 2.4Ghz there were no such issue at all before, I guess its about the antennas somehow !

Also i downgrade the SEXTANT from 5.6 to 5.14 to be same like the RB493G as I thought it maybe a bug or something …

any more advises so I can try them as well before I post next reuslts are so welcomed ..

Ok I tired to make the antennas vertical and both infront of each other , signal got down to -20/-11 and finally I started to receive in 11n mode for the Rx, but still can reach 300mbps air rate as I guess need to make the signal like -40/-40 as the -20/-11 is very high .

I will try to adjust that in the field then I will post final results..

Have you tried another radio?

With the devices as close as you mentioned in your other post it is possible you damaged something. I’ve never gotten signal higher than around a -28dB, which is still way too powerful. -1 to -2 is overdriving the receiver, could have damaged it, I can’t say for certain.

Target signal is somewhere around -50 to -70dB.

were u trying a bench test …pooof!!!

Its possible to use just 11n and or force to your desired speed.
