1GB Link Rates not working on RB/800 with POE

We just bought 2 RB/800’s, excited to test out the GB Eth Ports, however, when connecting 2 RB/800’s together, we can only get 1GB link rates with Eth2-Eth2. If you go Eth1 and through the POE, it only connects at 100Mbs. Is the problem the POE? I tried 2 different types of 48V POE’s, and it does the same, 100Mbps only. I suppose I could run another cable up the tower to the Eth2 jack, but that seems wrong..

with poe on port1 will work at 100mbps, no poe → 1Gbps

They work in PoE mode B and can’t do phantom power, so two pair are used for data (meaning you can’t go higher than 100Base-T), and the other two pair are used for power. When no PoE is used, all four pair are available for data, so you can do 1000Base-T.

That is what I figured, looks like I’ll have to run 2 cables to each outdoor enclosure. Thanks for the info!

make sure that you use POE that support Gigabit Ethernet, like this one:

So if I use POE i can get only 10/100Base-T if i don’t use POE i can get 1000Base-T?
Maybe there is trick to do 1000Base-T and POE?

Read his post, you need a PoE that supports 1000mbit
