2.4 b/g mode performance

How many clients are some of you running in 2.4 b/g mode?

I am running a RB532 with a SR2 card have it in b mode.
Total client load is 38 CPE’s most CPE’s bw are set for 384kbs and 6 are set to 512kbs.

Would going to b/g mode improve throughput?

performance would deteriorate unless clients supported b/g mode. but if they all did you might as well use pure g mode (which performs much better). but mixing b and g clients is not something i would recommend as the b-only clients would send even though a b/g client is sending which would drown out the g clients.

I’ve found that with SR2’s, even in an all b-mode CPE environment, setting the AP to B/G seems to work better. It’s odd, but true, and seems to be on a VERY case-by-case basis. It is also more true in more recent versions of ROS. We didn’t have to start changing them from B-only to B/G until around 2.9.25 or so.
