I’ve a 12km link, 22dbi grid each end poor LOS (a tree on end) and get 6mbps through the link, set to

 2  R ;;; NET-EL-NMP-8602 - 12km Link
      name="wlan3" mtu=1500 mac-address=00:02:6F:42:30:60 arp=enabled
      disable-running-check=no interface-type=Atheros AR5413
      radio-name="WHH-WLAN3" mode=ap-bridge ssid="SVWxyz" area=""
      frequency-mode=manual-txpower country=bla antenna-gain=0
      frequency=2472 band=2ghz-10mhz scan-list=default rate-set=configured
      supported-rates-b=1Mbps,2Mbps,5.5Mbps,11Mbps
      supported-rates-a/g=6Mbps,9Mbps,12Mbps,18Mbps,24Mbps
      basic-rates-b=1Mbps basic-rates-a/g=6Mbps max-station-count=2007
      ack-timeout=dynamic tx-power=26 tx-power-mode=card-rates
      noise-floor-threshold=default periodic-calibration=enabled
      periodic-calibration-interval=60 burst-time=disabled dfs-mode=none
      antenna-mode=ant-a wds-mode=disabled wds-default-bridge=none
      wds-default-cost=100 wds-cost-range=50-150 wds-ignore-ssid=no
      update-stats-interval=disabled default-authentication=yes
      default-forwarding=yes default-ap-tx-limit=0 default-client-tx-limit=0
      proprietary-extensions=post-2.9.25 hide-ssid=yes
      security-profile=default disconnect-timeout=3s on-fail-retry-time=100ms
      preamble-mode=both compression=no allow-sharedkey=no

it works OK but I’m wanting to cut down the tree and maybe use more powerful (SR2) cards.

… copper nails …

[honestly never done it, but gather it works -]

Thanks for all for your suggestion…

Last time I had the problem I found my chainsaw a very effective solution, unfortunately the owner of the tree also lets me have the repeater on their garage… Now if I could bolt a white plastic box and parabolic to the chimney of their 16th Century house the tree would no longer be in the way :wink:

Why not put up your own tree :slight_smile:

and some nice examples of concealed antennas and masts in this planning document

the cellphone industry has being doing this for years …

Great links, will be handy if we ever get our church antenna permission.
