I’m a long term Mikrotik fan with my current house having 6 APs all with PoE, along with a variety of Mikrotik switches and routers, CAPsMAN etc.
We’re about to move house to a new property and I’m considering the approach, it will be a major refurb, so I will be able to cable it all properly.
At a minimum I would want to run 2.5G to the APs, but there doesn’t seem to be any Mikrotik 2.5G (or higher) with PoE other than the RB5009 and that’s only one port. There also doesn’t appear to be any 2.5G PoE capable APs other than the HAP AX3.
Is there a roadmap for 2.5G or 10G PoE and APs that can be shared? I really want to stick with Mikrotik, but at the moment I can’t see a viable path!
(And before we get into the “what’s the point” debate … 2+Gb broadband is just round the corner, plus I have some fairly high bandwidth internal needs, plus the technology is widespread, building new at 1Gb now is not what I want to do.)
