2.8.17 stopped my atheros A channel eoip from working?

I just upgraded my two APs from 2.7 to 2.8.17 and my A channel backhaul eoip tunnel now has 98% packet loss but shows -66 at 54Mb signal. I am using the wireless package not wireless-legacy. What is wireless-legacy? It is not in the manual?

thank you…

The new wireless package contains new drivers containing support for the MikroTik proprietary NStreme protocol for example.
MikroTik is making available the “old” wireless package (without the newer drivers and features) for people having problems with the new ones (which seem to be at least some, judging by forum posts). The wireless-legacy package is exactly this “old” wireless package.
You should install only one of “wireless” and “wireless-legacy” packages on a system to avoid big problems. If you want to switch, first uninstall the wireless package and then (after a reboot) install the other wireless package. Be careful when using netinstall for installation, as you have to take a closer look to see which wireless package is which in netinstall.

Ok. I uninstalled wireless and installed wireless-legacy but it changes nothing. I uninstalled.. then ftp’ed new package wireless legacy and set up my two Atheros cards and my registration table shows -54 signal but 99% packet loss.

Maybe it is because new drivers do not work with Ateheros AR5210 chipset? These worked fine for MT2.7 APs though… these same two machines.

how can you tell that there is 99% packet loss over a wireless link. it is not possible at all - the link disconnects and there is no packet loss as it is on wired network.

If I ping one end of the eoip tunnel from the other end over the wireless link I get very few successful ping i.e. 1% to 4% even though the registration tables for the two AR5210 cards show a strong -54 to -66 signal.

As I said, this configuration worked very well when these two AP, Soekris 4521, were using MT2.7 but I have wanted to use virtual aps and vlans to organize bandwidth utilization better, and try n-streme in the new MT2.8

This must be a driver issue yes? I will need to to use Cisco 1200 or downgrade our MT APs now to put back in service in our new location.

bridging networks with EoIP over wireless is not recommended. please use WDS as in this example :
http://www.mikrotik.com/docs/ros/2.8/howto/howto.content#12.2.5.3

well i am unsure that this is the problem since the problem exists between the two atheros radios regardless that they participate in the eoip interface… if i ping from mode=station 10.4.0.1/24 to mode=bridge 10.4.0.2/24 even before I define the eoip tunnel and bridge I see the behavior I have described.

I’ve got the same problem with 2 Dlink DWL-A520
i’ve give up
DWL-A520 with DWL-AG520 on other side works fine
