2.9.27 KEEPS CRASHING MY APs 400miles away

Just upgraded from 2.9.22 last night to fix the fact a customer can not connect or even see my ssid with an BRAND NEW LAPTOP.

I read about the propritary extentions. i turned them on…rebooted the router and it came up. 2 minutes later it crashed and rebooting it via turning off the poe via switch brings it back up only to crash 2-5 minutes later…

2.9.22, wrap 2c. 2 x 8602 cards= NEVER CRASHED ONCE… The only things ive changed was 1: upgrade the os from 2.9.22 to 2.9.27 and then turned on post 2.9.25 “propritary extention” for both cards (they are both APB’s on 90 degree sector ants.)…

im not very happy right now since i should have NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE and now may need to go on a 400 mile trip.

DO NOT USE 2.9.27 w/ prop. extensions on critical wireless…yet..

WHY IS THERE NO DOCUMENTATION ON THIS PROPRITARY EXTENTION STUFF?? this is very very disappointing…

EDIT: the crashes are happening less frequently..but are still happening. it would seem like bad hardware but its just too coninsidenal…

It’s probably the Senao radios you are using. If you would have done any searching at all, you would have noticed they seem to be very hit and miss with people. As for the new extensions, again, searching around and reading various posts recently you will see that there is some talk about it. In a nutshell, Intel added some power saving crap to their new wireless chips, and some access points have problems with these new extensions (this is not just a Mikrotik problem). Intel has a KB article about it on their site. Search, then post

FWIW, we haven’t had any issues with 2.9.27.

Why do you think that ‘enabled proprietary extensions reboots your router’ ?
What do you mean by ‘crash’ ?

jaro,

I have 32 of the senao cards working flawlessly until this update…not very hit or miss..more like hit with a good tested os (2.9.x), and MISS without one (2.9.27).

I’ve read about every post on this MB…and if it is HIT AND MISS with senao cards, then MIKROTIK needs to offiially UNSUPPORT THEM. Unless mikrotik considers hit and miss standard.

I had someone go out there and change out the entire setup that was crashing..its just sad that i get calls from ppl who can see other SSIDs of cheap netgear, linksys crap but not see mine as part of my 8000$ network…looks like they still wont get to see my ssid…

EDIT: serge i mean it crashed the board once..after being up for about 2-5min on 2.9.27 and now has since not come back up even after repeated reboots via a POE switch and trying mac telnet. I assume its just continously rebooting as i can see its drawing power once reset at the switch vs not drawing power when the switchs poe port is set off.

jo2jo,
I hope you are using default tx-power configuration for wireless cards ?

Sergejs and jo2jo

As far as I know, there is no rebooting issue with Wrap boards and the new seano cards, hence jo2jo never had problems with them before.

There is still rebooting issues with Routerboards and the Senao cards, even using latest version MT and default settings!

In my opinion the older version RB’s power supply is not yet up to scratch, or MT software is not managing it well with the new Senao cards.
