In 2.9.32. the command “/system reset” was renamed to “/system reset-configuration” in order to minimize possible confusion with “/system reboot”.
I suggest renaming this command again, as I (and I suppose many others) work with the auto-completion feature (tab key in terminal) a lot, and then there’s no difference between “/system reset” and “/system reset-configuration”.
I suggest using something like “/system factory-default” or the like…
this will be another matter then. previously you could confuse the word reset with reboot, some people thing of them as the same thing.
but now - it is a matter of not hitting tab to see what this command does. if you type /ip fi and expect to see fiber, but it turns out to be firewall - this is not a interface problem, but users quick fingers
I KNOW you SHOULD read what you do before you do it.
I KNOW that this USUALLY is no problem.
And I KNOW that it will be incredibly hard to change that commands’ name (again), just to prevent some user error that WILL happen to people - especially when in a hurry while trying to fix a buggy production-system or the like. And YES, it HAS happened already (not only to me).
maybe create backup file before reset? that would be very hady - if someone resets configuration unintentionaly and if nothing hapens for 30 minutes set configuration back
I was also hoping ‘/system re ’ was going to be something other than clear my entire router : ) A quick reboot can turn into a restore job in no time. I haven’t tested to see if ‘/system re ’ still does reset-configuration…
