2.9.40 RIC/522 "Console has crashed..."

I am experiencing yet another issue with RIC/522 and 2.9.40 - I can not telnet, ssh into it or even use the WinBox terminal (http://ra.vendomar.ee/~ivo/mt2940_terminal.png).
If to reboot the box then for some time it is working OK (http://ra.vendomar.ee/~ivo/mt2940_terminal2.png), but within less than 24h it will develop this issue.

What is with the 2.9.40 and RB112?
Is there any hope for the fix?

try to reinstall the RouterOS with netinstall, it will fix all problems if there are any

I do not have these RIC/522 laying around, but installed to the customer location.

Netinstall:

Please explain how does this method of RouterOS reinstall should fix anything?
How/why does the normal system update isn’t fixing the same issues?
Do you need anything (some logs etc) from the device to pinpoint the source of the issue?

please follow my recommendation if you want to fix your problem.

I see that you are running out of memory, disable some packages and features to improve the situation. contact support if the problem stays

How much free memory is needed for the MT to remain functional?

I have these packages installed and running:

Is there a list somewhere what is showing the memory needs of each package?
What functional role has the user-manager and advanced-tools?

uninstall the unused packages, disabling is not enough. if you still have problems, reinstall with netinstall.

I am experiencing similar problems: having experienced no problems for five months attempting to open a new terminal in Winbox now triggers the following:

MikroTik RouterOS 2.9.40 (c) 1999-2007 http://www.mikrotik.com/

Console has crashed or maybe system is completely busy; please log in again.

According to system resources there are 2472.6MiBs free out of 13.8Mib and the CPU is running at about 5%.

Log on this RB112 also reports 36 (thirty-six) disconnects and reconnects between 12.07 and 16.30 today. Another 112 on the same interface reports none.

How long is the warranty on a RB112?

Sounds like a “rebooting will solve all your problems” mantra from Microsoft.

Normis, even if I wanted to do this how can I? The RB came with the licenced OS already installed. I don’t have a licenced copy to install.

if you will reinstall routeros, your license will be safe. Routeros installation you can find on official site in downloads…
