2 APs extending network coverage - help

Hi,

First of all I must say that I am a beginner in wireless networking and I must ask for some help and explanation.

Basically I have the following situation - now there is one AP for the client computers, but the coverage in some rooms is not good. So now there is a need for extension of this wireless network. I attached a picture.
I have the following questions:

  1. Is it possible that AP1 has the same SSID for the clients and for the connection towards AP2. The same applies for AP2?
  2. Solution 2 is the same SSID for the clients on both APs and different SSID for connection between APs. I suppose this could work. What are the drawbacks of such solution?
  3. Different SSID for clients on each APs and for connection between APs. Suppose this is a best solution.

I suppose I need two radio cards in each AP - one for clients and one for connection towards peer AP. Is there a possibility to configure this with only one card?

Can you please provide me with some example configurations or some “how to” configure this?
