I am using RB433UAH with R52n and R2n.
My network based on getting internet from R52n then share it to 50 users connected on R2n through 12dbi sector antenna
the network used to work fine for 2 years, but last few days it got really slow between the RB433UAH and clients.
clients signal is great and I get 70% CCQ overall. I found that if I disable R52n (point to point internet feed) clients can get 10Mbps which is very good
if I enable the card back they go down to 100kbps
I thought the the R52n is making a trouble to the main radio (R2n) so IO decided to use eth1 instead of R52n as internet feed but the same thing happened! network goes down to 100kbps!!!
any ideas why this happens? it is not always but most of the time.
What is the CPU load while this is happening? When you have the internet connection enabled you are essentially doubly the amount of traffic across the board. All of the traffic on the AP has to then in turn be handled by another interface. 50 clients on the AP means that its pretty much maxed out, but there are other considerations if this has just started happening as you described. Have any recent changes been the firewall or queuing process? I would check that first. If your config is simple enough to easily rebuild, you could perform a system reset and then add the configuration settings back one by one and see if there is a point at which the problem recreates itself. Depending on what type of clients you are referring to, you may also want to consider a second AP.
One more thought on that…assuming the hardware is good… you could possibly have one or more the clients that is creating the problem. You should probably check that before a performing a system reset…lol
I dont think it is a traffic problem because it worked for a year! things were fine. Yes there is some recent change but it is not on on board, the router is been running by solar charging battery system, I had a problem with the last one, lots of failures, then I decided to change it all, new solar panel, new battery, new charger, but I dont think it is a power problem. because the problem happens on 12V and on 14V, day and night. I hope it is not routerboard problem because I only have one, tomorrow I will try the reset thing, I also has just received XR2.. a chance to try it.
