2003 Server SP1

Has anyone tried to look at 2003 Server SP1 SNMP with DUDE V2b7?

I see no data from SNMP.

XP Pro SP2 with agents loaded works fine…

Craig

Yes, I check the status of a 2003 R1 Server here succesfully.

I noticed that by default the SNMP Agent on Server 2003 does not allow polling from the LAN. So open the SNMP Service on the server, Security tab and check there.

(By default, previous versions of Windows do allow polling the SNMPO agent from the LAN.)

Im also running (trying) the dude on 2003 server and am getting no snmp information.

diffrance is i have no snmp service to open? does it have to be installed or what?

im looking under -management-services&apps-services

no snmp at all.

cheers

Yes, you have to install it. It’s included in Windows, but not installed by default. Go to Add/Remove Programs → Add/Remove Windows Components → Management and Monitoring Tools → Simple Network Management Protocol.

After you’ve installed it, you have to go to the SNMP Service and configure it with the correct Community string, access control, etc.
