2011, blank white LCD?

I won an RB2011 as a door prize at a MUM a couple years back. It turned out to be an uncased bare board with the LCD mounted on standoffs. Why the vendor had taken the case off, I have no idea. I couldn’t use it bare, so I stored it in its box in my shop.

Recently, I had a need for a 2011 and someone pointed out that third-party cases were now available, so I bought one and assembled it.

I can’t get the LCD working. When the router comes up, it’s black. Issuing almost any LCD command makes it turn all white. If I set dark or light, it’s still all white. If I disable it, it goes black. Recalibrate does nothing.

I upgraded the board to 6.37.3 (I have other 2011s running that and their LCDs work fine) and made sure the firmware was upgraded, but it didn’t help. I’ve tried playing with the connector socket in case the flat cable was misaligned, but I can’t get any different behavior.

The LCD is a Golden Vision GV018-16009B-GB. I don’t even know if that’s the standard LCD that comes with the 2100 (maybe it’s just the wrong model?)

If anyone has any suggestions, I’d appreciate them. A working LCD isn’t a requirement, but if there’s a simple fix, it would be nice to have.

Have you tried fiddling with the LCD cable, where it is connected to the PCB ?

Yes, that’s what I meant by “playing with the connector socket in case the flat cable was misaligned.” At one point (out of desperation despite the damage potential) I did it with the router powered up, up just to see if anything recognizable flashed by. The only results I got in any position were white screen and black screen (presumably misaligned or loose). When I engage the lock on the connector, I always get white screen.

Can you tell me if the Golden Vision that was on the board is the standard (or at least a supported) LCD module for this product?

sorry about the tldr

yes, it is the same:

the mounting is also standard. we offered such PCB-only variants with a special LCD stand, like in your picture, it is not customised by the seller.

if the RouterBOOT upgrade did not help, it could mean a bad device. RouterOS/RouterBOOT reinstalls are the only thing on your side that you can do

I did a full netinstall, no difference. I guess I’ll just run it without the LCD. Thanks for the information.
