2611 CB3 and 2611 AP3 as hotspot APs

I have had a lot of problems with the MT hotspot and I have found the problem. The problem I was having was with Macs and Dell True Mobile 1400 cards. (Could be more I don’t know)
The users would try to sign up but the page would take a long time to load if it would at all.
My first thought was the radios, but one of my partners told me that “if he took the MT out of the loop, every thing works fine” (should have tested my self)
So, yesterday I when over to a hotel and dicked around for 3 hours before I finnaly tryed replacing the Senao 2611 AP3 with a Linksys AP.

It looks like I’ll be replacing all the radios now. : (

Anyone need about 24 2611CB3+Deluxe and 12 2611 AP3s.

Please e-mail me what cost you would sell these for. Will not be able to take all of them.

Thank you

Matt

Are you using enabled-address or dhcp-pool mode for your Mikrotik Hotspot? The dhcp-pool method can cause problems with Macs (due to the short dhcp lease time). Don’t know if this still applies to the current version, but it used to be a problem.

I use enabled-address. But the MT works fine if I use the Linksys AP so it muct the the senao AP.

I don’t think it’s your APs. We use AP3s and have not had this problem.

How could this work? Where is your DHCP being served from?

The MT does the dhcp. The APs are not doing anything at all.

Any chance you’ve got the “Allow Upgrades” enabled on your APs?

It could be enabled. I hope this is not the issue causing me all these problems.
What kind of problems have you seen from having the" Allow Upgrades" on?

Sorry, missed this one for a few days. We’ve seen same strange behavior when this is enabled - mainly slow speeds and link problems. You’re not supposed to leave this on unless you are upgrading the APs. The only other thing I can think of (because you mentioned Macs) is your lease times are set really short - try 24 hours or more if you haven’t already. Have you verified that those with problems are getting an IP from DHCP?

I’m going to check all the radios to make sure the allow Upgrade is Disabled.
As for the lease time it’s set to 24 hours.
