2ghz antenna used on a 5ghz radio

what is the effect on either antenna or radio?

You’ll see quite a bit of attenuation, but it will work (just not very well). There won’t be any damage to the radio or antenna however.

It’s like installing motorbike Tyre to a bicycle, sure you can ride it.

VSWR : http://www.antennex.com/preview/vswr.htm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VSWR

When an antenna and feedline do not have matching impedances, some of the electrical energy cannot be transferred from the feedline to the antenna.[2] Energy not transferred to the antenna is reflected back towards the transmitter.[3] It is the interaction of these reflected waves with forward waves which causes standing wave patterns.[2] Reflected power has two main implications in radio transmitters: Radio Frequency (RF) energy losses increase,[2] and damage to the transmitter can occur.[4]

dawam

a 24dBi CalAmp grid (2.4Ghz) has the same signal as a 23dBi panel (5Ghz)

a 2.4 ghz antenna cannot be same as 5.8 ghz antenna, they operate on different frequecies

did you try it or you just dream it?

a 24dBi CalAmp grid (2.4Ghz) has the same signal as a 23dBi panel (5Ghz), this is your argument definately they cannot have the same signal unless i do not understand your statement

I’ve just move the pigtail from one antena to the other and rotate it. Same signal and CCQ.
Quod erat demonstrandum.
