2GHZ vs 5GHZ

Hey,

What is te difference between wireless a and g besides the actual freqency.

Like the realistic praticle differece? which goes further or is stronger?

Where would you use one over the other?

It really depends on the country that you use it in and their regulatory laws.

In the US there are only 3 available channels in 2.4GHz. In 5GHz there are more than 12.

Here we find 2.4GHz crowded but useful for WiFi hotspots since most laptops have 2.4GHz built in but many do not have 5GHz.

If you look at the physics of the wave, 2.4GHz should travel a little farther and have better penetration since it is a lower frequency. But the difference is slight.

Tom

Im in SA<

have 12 in 2GHZ and about 25 or 30 in A.

Is there any difference with the width of the band if you are using grids? cause i know the 2ghz frids are bigger>

And annother thing i noticed it the 5GHZ setups always seem to have slighty stronger DBI antenna why is this?

for 2GHz Fresnel zone is wider comparing to 5GHz.

and other difference - reflected signal fades faster for 5GHz

So really 2Ghz is better.

Unless you have a problem with channels be crowded use 2ghz?

it is different, and you have to check what is better in what situation.

So what characterristics of the situation would you take into respect?

like what variables?
