I have an installation with 5 CRS328-24P-4S+ and within 2 months it is the second device that a utp port is “broken”
I get the “short circuit” notification even with NO device connected to it.
I tried to remove the power plug and plug it back it but still no luck.
I also tried upgrading still no luck.
At the moment they are running 6.48.1 version
Would it help to format the nand completely or that is not related and wouldn’t help?
I want to try to avoid sending it back for replacement because the transportation costs are too high.
Perhaps not all 100+ devices, but that's up to qualified electrician to decide. It very much depends on earthing done on both ends of UTP cable. If earthing point is common for both ends, then most of times surge protector is not needed. It earthing point is not the same (quite likely if we're talking about separate buildings, but can be case even inside single building if earthing is not done properly), then usage of surge protectors is highly advisable.
And this doesn't have to do anything about lightning strikes, bad things can happen even for other reasons.
