I’m am planning a WIFI-link to a hut.
I have internet access at place 1, and have free LoS (2,5KM) to a mast where I am allowed to put equipment.
From the same mast I have free LoS (1KM) to the hut.
It is about a 80-90 degrees from the mast to the two points.
Whats is the best approach here - two PTP, or a PTMP with wide antenna in the mast?
The number 1 point is stability - and single antenna equipment in the mast sounds more stable, but will the two clients communicating through the same radio make the link less stable?
2x PtP is the best option. With PtMP with the AP in middle you will loose 50% of the speed and double the latency as the AP can only communicate with one endpoint at a time. At the mast site, physically separate the 2 devices as much as possible within reason. Use channels as far apart as possible. And use higher gain antennas at the mast site because of their smaller beam widths. Just turn down the power of the radio to compensate for the higher gain.
