2X RB450G as PPPoE and Hotspot Server with User manager Radius Server Max User

Dear Experts,

Can anyone help me by giving the following info regarding RB450G. I’m planning to buy 2X RB450G for PPPoE and Hotspot Server with User manager Radius Server. I’ve 50 User on PPPoE and another 50 User on Hotspot. I want to use separate PPPoE or Hotspot for each RB450G. My Data Plan would be 1mb/1mb for all the PPPoE & Hotspot users. Will it be the right choice as I came to know RB450G consumes less power & very small routerboard than others. Please help me.

i think rb450g its very outdated.

Maybe rb850gx2 is a better option, has the same form factor and low power comsumption too, more cpu performance and ram.

If I use RB1100Ahx2 instead of RB850Gx2 will it be much more better? Can I Use Hotspot & PPPoE both servers with usermanager on a single RB1100Ahx2? I may have 100 Hotspot and 100 PPPoE users Max. Total Bandwidth would be 50mbps Max.

of course rb1100ahx2 has 100% more performance than rb850gx2 but rb1100 cost 3 times the 850gx2

if you have the budget for the rb1100ahx2 (350US) you may want to explore the possibility of CCR1009-8G-1S (425US)

ccr1009 has 3 - 4 times the performance of rb1100ahx2 and is “only” 20-25% more expensive than rb1100ahx2

ccr1009 has 6 - 8 times the performance of rb850gx2, ccr1009 cost 3 times the rb850gx2

i think rb850gx2 can be enough for the load of the 100 users with 50mbps of throughput , it depends of how much complex firewall mangle and queuing configuration you want to implement.

a very complex configuration can be too much for the rb850gx2

with ccr1009 you will have enough processing power for a very complex configuration leaving enough room for future growing in traffic and user amount

summarizing:

if you have the money go for ccr1009

if not go for the rb850gx2 keeping an eye on maintaining the config optimal

Thank you very much. I’ll go for CCR1009. I need another help. Yesterday I bought a Basebox2 for learning purpose. I want to make Hotspot with usermanager radius server on it. I know it has license level 4 so 20 user can access internet at a time. I’ve tried a lot but i couldn’t configured successfully. It would be so kind of you if you can give me any guide or tutorial for that configuration. waiting to hear from you.
