3 Mini-PCI board, Not rb153

does anyone know of a MT capable board that has 3 miniPCI slots, and is stable?

Or is anyone using a RB 532 with a daughtercard in an outdoor enclosure?

I need 3 or 4 miniPCI and its for a critial link, so the RB 153 is too unstable for it.

thanks

motherboard with 3 RB11

Rb153 is stable, why do you think it’s not? We will have some new devices with 3 miniPCI but not so soon.

maybe it’s because too weak cpu resources…
my celeron 300mhz works better than rb532a@400mhz

We’ve got several going, a couple for more than a year. Completely stable running 2xSR5 and 2xCM9 (yes, if the SR5 cards are run lower than 36mbps rate and no adjustment is made to output power it puts 3.3v in the red but we don’t operate them that way, you have been warned :exclamation: ) I just put another pair together and as it happens an RB532 w/daughter card fits very nicely in the Pac Wireless diecast enclosure w/the hinged cover. Small box but internal temperature increase is only about 10 degrees F over ambient at reasonable duty cycle. A nice little package.

Edit: The hinge adapter assembly on the Pac Wireless box is not suitable for marine environments and will probably also corrode dismayingly if you’re in an area w/industrial pollutants in the air. If you’re in the US Hammond makes some nice glass-polyester boxes w/all stainless fittings that are good for nasty situations. 5"x7" Hammond fits an RB532 w/daughtercard with ample room. Inexpensive, too.

I have been using RB532 with fully loaded doughterboards (5 pcs for now). They works fine, but we decided later to use two separate RB532instead, because of

1.CPU power (limits max bandwidth)
2.Radio interference, cards “hears” each other too much espetially on 5GHz band even without antennas or pigtails.

All units are in bigest original case, installed directly under roof.
One unit is installed in waterproof outdoor case, near the antenna system,
works fine for more than 20 months.
Some of them use PoE.

However, for all critical links we do use P4/2.0GHz and above.

thanks for all the input:

dbstrom: where do you get the hammond boxes? i did a good serach and could not find anything.

Normis; there is a thread that is about 50 posts deep that says otherwise reguarding the stability of 153…you JUST posted that a hardware update fixes these issues…+ you guys were SOO reluctant to even admit there was a problem, i dont not consider a device that just last week required a hardware fix, as stable for Critical links. And i know your not giving up info on the new RBs for some reason…thus my question here.

so it looks like im going to have to use 2 Router boards in an enclosure..prob a WRAP 2e since it has 64 mbit ram and a RB 112 for the other two Links.

so no one is using a third party board with 3 mini pci? or anyone post hardware update using the rb153?

Mouser’s got quite a few. Search on “Hammond” then use the filter for “NEMA 4X” Here’s a link to get started with:

jo2jo, after the fix RB153 can be considered stable :exclamation:

it’s a problem only with 3 simultaneous cards of certain kinds in some rare cases. and it does not cause instability. please read the thread before drawing conclusions

but we have the same problems with the 153 boards
none of the 10 we bought run stable with 3 cards and “high” load
the higher the load the more often the boards reboot
with only 3 clients connted the uptime climbed to max 10 days
with >20 clients connected on only 1 wlan card (a second card was disabled) uptimes > 24 hours where not possible !!!
we changed everything to rb 532 and have no problems any more !!

as a heared that there was a hardware-fix - how to get it ?

contact the company who sold you the board, they will fix it.

and would it be possible to just describe the fix or changes ?

we don’t want you to ruin your boards, so it will be better to ask your dealer to not void your warranty

and why dont you just say what has been changed and leave the decision to me what to do with the boards ?
